Another Fuel Leak

Here's my fuel leak...Any ideas? I would normally say it's the tube on the right side, under the tank. However, that area is dry. Notice the peeling paint under the edge. I think this has been going on for awhile.

This leak is under the rear edge of the tank and above the welded on bracket that allows the bolts and bushings to attach the tank to the frame. It's a pretty good leak. I had lifted the tank earlier in the year to run a power wire under it, along the wiring harness. I never detached any hoses, just lifted the tank a couple of inches. Enough to get my hand in there to get the wire tied off.

Do you think I have a bad tank that has a leak in a seam or something similer? Here's the pic:

Here's another pic of the left side of the tank. You can see a drip forming and some of the wet areas. I dried everything up last night before I came in the house for the night.

I've heard some 1600 Classics had that issue and there was a recall. You may want to look into that.

your bike is green in first pic and silver/black in second pic? I own the '05 and my bro owns an '06 and have had the tanks off a few times and no leaks. it could be a line which is easy enough to check. take the whole tank OFF and check out all lines/hoses. And check welds for leaks too. Good Luck.

Doc,

I think the color difference is the angle of the camera. It's the speedy green and titanium. The leak issue is solved. It's the weld and Kawi is replacing the tank even though it's little out of warranty.

They recalled the 2000cc tanks, which are similar in welding. If my tank leaked like that and Kawii wouldn't replace 10 tanks in a row if that's what it took I would be going postal...

There is NO WaY A CUSTOMER CAN CAUSE THAT LEAK! Bad welding robots is that cause, or bad enginerring
