Saddlebag top rails on e-bay
I had either an adrenaline rush or a near heart attack tonight. I have bought several things over the years on e-bay, but have never bidded on anything. For the last 2 days I have been in a bidding war for some top rails for my Nomad. Now the rails range in price from $175 to $265 on e-bay, if someone wanted to buy them outright (that was 4 different companies). I started it yesterday as a game, I bid $12.50 and the war started. We went back and forth and tonight the others had gotten up to $105 with a couple hours to go, so I figured I'd wait til the last second to try to squeeze the winning bid in. So with 45 seconds left the bid was still $105 and I put my max bid at $120 and when I clicked on the confirm bid button, it asked me for my e-bay username and password. I had done so much playing around I guess my time had expired. So I shuffled around and found my name and password, inventing some new profanity along the way, and entered it in and with 2 seconds left, I won the bidding war. I couldn't believe it. They are brand new rails, too. I think my heart rate tripled during those last 45 seconds. My winning bid was $107.50 (plus $20 shipping, of course). If anyone has bought some of these, how good did I do? Thanks Jamie..............................Next: Some Kury Iso Grips?

Based on this thread...prices range in the 110 - 130 range I think. Your 107 is the lowest I think.
http://www.vulcanbagger.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?t=9365 That is the only way to do eBay auctions if you want something, snipe it at the end with the max bid you are willing to pay. It can get the heart going sometimes :). Odds are you bought from the same guy most in that thread seem to have been using. You might want to read the thread for some good info on the install of these rails.

Now you just have to work up the guts to drill holes in the tops of your saddlebags!

Well Strobe and CJ, If there's one thing I'm not afraid of doing it's drilling holes. Building houses and being a finish carpenter, I've drilled in just about everything you could imagine, from marble showers to granite countertops. Drilling is easy, you just have to hope you got your measurements right. Just hold your breath and cross the fingers on your other hand. Anyway, they should look great and I just ordered a chrome Nomad emblem to go on the front fender and it looks cool, too. Thanks, Jamie

My father taught me the carpenter's rule when I was very young. Measure twice, cut once. Congrats man!

I'll probably measure 10 or 12 times and still be holding my breath.

Ordered the chrome "Nomad" emblems for the front fender off e-bay also. Bought it from a vendor called Emblemzz. He's got a store on e-bay. They were $29.99 for a pair. 5 inches long and 3/4 inch tall. Picture looked real nice. Supposed to be a retro classic look. He also had about every model bike emblem there is.

I put mine on the side of my saddlebags. Not much glue holding them on, so I used some extra to be on the safe side. I like the way they look.
