Short ride today
I went out for a little ride this morning, about 80 miles. Weather was low 70's, but with a light cloud cover, so I didn't get the warmth of the sun. Rode down to Casa Grande and filled up, then I rode to the town of Maricopa. As I was getting ready to turn right onto the main drag through town, I saw two bikes ahead of me. One was a blue/silver Nomad, two-up. Unfortunately, traffic being what it was - I couldn't get along side him at a light or anything. I just rode through the town and then back to Chandler on Casa Blanca Road, through the lovely ::) towns of Casa Blanca and Stotonic on the Gila River Indian Reservation.

That's why Phoenix was a one-horse town until the 1940's, when air-conditioning became practical.
I've talked to folks that lived here before a/c was commonplace. They used to sleep in screened porches during the summer under sheets soaked in water with a fan blowing over them. Pneumonia was also very common. ::) I moved here from Utah 10 years ago. One of the hardest things to get used to was going outside at night during the summer and it's still 105 degrees at 11:00PM. At least in Utah it cools off when the sun goes down. All the concrete, asphalt, stucco and tile roofs retain the heat from the sun and radiate it back out after the sun goes down.

You know, I don't like the snow up here and putting my bike up for 5 or 6 months a year but geez, I don't know how you guys stand that kind of heat. Don't give me that line about dry heat either
![]() Sounds like a nice ride CJ, I'll be riding in another month or so ;)
