Go to Gadgets site under the Bolt ons - harder ,and you'll find lots of info about all the mods. It's a good read and also will go into fuel processors and other related items.

borto1990 to answer your question in my opinion the major difference is in the cost of the hyper charger and that the hyper charger looks cool but as far as performance goes there is very little or no deference. But they won't give you much more unless you open up the exhaust and install a fuel manager assuming you have a FI bike if you have a carb. then you will have to change the jets to get maximum performance.

borto1990, There is no prefprmance difference... A hypercharger is just a fancy big air filter. The flappers wiggle on engine vacuum pules, and that's all the difference there is.

EXCEPT the wiggling plates just might interfear with engine breathing. A spring holds these plates OPEN when there is no engine vacuum. That happens with the egnine off, and to some extent at wide open full twiste and bent to hell riding at wide open throttle... Think about that for a second..

I know Cadd face to face and lived in his house in California 18 days and nights.... I live in NH. Cadd installed one set on my bike when I was there, because when I was there I had 3 broken ribs.. That 01 Nomad was stolen during the ride back east, and I bought a 06 used in 06, and it has a Caddman on it I put there. and currently is right side only.

I woiuld be happy to assist in anyway I can. mac

caddman air intake mod

Well OK! Here's as good a place as any for me to jump in and get my feet wet!

I've read the article on Gadget's site, and in fact printed it out and let our service manager read it to get his input. He thought it sounded like a good idea and one that should work, so for me step one is complete. I trust this guy impeccably.

For me, the next hurdle before doing the mod is two fold. The first is I'm concerned about how much extra room the larger filters will take up and if there will be interference between them and my legs. Gadget's "modified" caddman using the smaller paper filters is interesting from that point of view, but I'm thinking I like the idea of staying with the re-usable K&N. To be honest, If I could figure out how to rig up a "Twin Air" brand foam filter I'd be tempted to go that route, but that's another story...

My second concern is with the open filter elements and water. I don't have an issue with covering the filter(s) while washing the bike, but see, my wife and I are cursed. Yes. It's true. It seems like every time we go on much of a ride we get rained on. Well OK, not every time, but a lot. In fact, on my first solo trip to Florida I rode 535 miles the first day, 450 of it was in the rain! So understand why this is a concern for me! I've had plenty of experience with 200lb dirt bikes in the mud, goo and water so pushing or trying to re-light a drowned Nomad isn't real high on my list of fun things I haven't done yet! *lol*

Is there really that much power to be had in doing this mod? Is water an issue? Do the filters get in the way of your legs? Inquiring minds and all that jazz. ;)

It doesn't rain often where I live, but I did get caught in a rainstorm about a month ago and rode over 100 miles at 65-70 MPH in a steady downpour. It caused no problems with my open K&N filter. In fact, a little water mist in the intake isn't a bad thing. The water turns to steam in the combustion chamber and will clean carbon build-up off the pistons and valves. They sell water injection systems that do almost the same thing.

I did the Caddman on both sides and did not notice the difference with it taking up additional room. Also, I've been stuck in a few rain storms riding often between Mexico and the US and haven't had any problems.

I haven't had much time riding since I did the mod on both sides this winter, but when I have ridden there was no noticeable difference in " leg room " with the duel K&N's. I haven't rode in the rain yet, so I can't speak to that, but others like CJ and Blue Rebel have said it's not effected. You'll have to add the TFI I was told. And I did that. I found a marked increase in power. I'll be getting it dyno'd when the weather warms up a bit more, to make it perrrfect.

I didn't measure, but I'ld say the caddman is less sticky outty than stock. No other free air flow can say that.

Rain is a non issure other than if you run paper filters. I do and these turn gray over time. Other wise there is no issue. I live in NH where if you don't ride in rain you don't ride at all.

During Bike Week at Laconia I ride in rains that stop most every other rider. It ALWAYS rains at that week no matter how they move the week around so it won't rain...

There is water in the air on a dry day in New England.. Non Issue.

With TFI and exhaust the Nomad will see between 15 and 17 hp jump if memory serves me. The Nomad has very restrictive airbox setup that draws all the air between the cylinders. So not only restrictive but hot air. The Nomad and all Vulcan's really can get great performance increases by getting unrestricted cool air. Top that off with better fuel and more exhaust flow and you have a machine that can snap your neck when you roll the throttle.

caddman air intake mod

thanks for all the input guys. Once again, if these %&##*(& realtors can close on my house like they were suppose to for the last 3 months, I have a nice red and black 08 a few towns over that's callin my name. Will any of these mods void warranty work? I plan on V&H, caddman, fuel processor (not sure which yet) .. oh, and i read about marbling somehwhere here.. I know I had to do that to my vulcan 750 to keep her from poppin, not sure if that's the same reason folks do em to the nomads. There is also a guy here in town who will do a custom map on the dyno for $250. might go that route.

Your warranty is safe with this mods. Most of use are using the TFI fuel processor. You will want to marble the tube on the right hand side of the airbox.
