Raied the Nomad
Well I finally took the plunge and raised the Nomad back to stock height. The PO had lowered it and that was great when you get to the intersection but not so great in any sharp turn. The process was actually easy. Well, kind of. Whoever did the work to lower it cross threaded both studs on the right side. No problem I thought. Just go to the hardware and get a 10 mil die and clean the threads. Well it also ruined the nuts so I had to get new nuts also. The die obviously took some of the metal off the studs and I was afraid of stripping what threads I had left. Sooooo I coated those suckers good with lock-tite and hoped for the best. So far so good but that is something I will have to check often. I hope I dont have to replace the studs as that looks like it is going to involve some disassemby( rear tire, rear fender and such). Anyway the ride is much smoother with the air shocks back on Goldie. He lowered her with progressive shocks, but they had no air assist. BTW the lift from Harbor freight work like a charm once I got it positioned just right.

Hey, Robby. Why would anyone want to lower the Nomad? I mean unless you're really short or just drive in straight lines.

The PO lowered the bike because he had some problem with his hip and couldn't get his leg over the seat. It did however cause me to drag the heads off the baffle screwa on my V&H Baggers. Oh well no harm no fowl all is right again |

I've got a similar thing going on. The PO installed progressives and lowered the bike a bit. But, I have yet to drag any part of the pipes. The boards and kickstand, Yes. but pipes, no. You must have been pretty low.
As for the fit and comfort, I love it. Even with both of us and all our gear, never a difficulty. And that is even on the Hill Country 3's. Truth is, I like the look of a lowered bike as well.

I scraped my V&H screws that hold the baffles in a couple times taking out of my driveway and not having enough rebound(1-4) set on my shocks and with 2 up.
