does anyone happen to be buddies with anyone with a kaw dealership? I'd be curious to figure out how much a dealership pays for the nomad. Take that black one that's been posted here from NC. At 9,899 I wonder how much a dealer is still making?

9899 is a hell of a price for a Nad, especially if new. I thought I got a great deal at $11k. The MSRP is around $14k.

According to my dealer, $10.5K is right around dealer cost.

Of course, he was selling me one for $10.7K, so I won't swear that he was telling the truth.

It was a good story, tho, and I did buy the Nomad.

:-)

Maybe around a $1,000 at best at that price. His profit on that bike is not likely that much though given he has likely paid interest payments on his dealership "floorplan" financing ever since that bike landed on his floor.

In other words; your ability to deal at this point is limited. But if I were you; I would offer $1,000 less in cash and see where he goes with it.

I would also really ck the bike out very closely. I have known dealers that have had bikes (cars) wrecked by someone "test-driving" them. The dealers (being dishonest) will then repair the bike by alternative means and not report the damage whereby know one knows it has ever been wrecked. There could possibly be "questionable" issues with the bike. Likely not... but just be sure.

There are web sites where for a few bucks you can get dealer cost. Did that when when I got my VN800B new and got it for $500 over that price, a whole bunch below MSRP.

Hey, I thought I was getting a good deal at Vicksburg Cycles, Ms by getting one marked down to $11,499. Maybe I need to drive to NC to get one?

If it is brand new for that price I personally would buy it and run like hell before he changes his mind. Posts like yours make my butt hurt because it proves that I got cornholed for my 06 at $10,200. If you can get one with warranty for that price, buy it.

I paid 12,995 for my 06 new. I have never haggled on a selling price for any new bike. every new bike I have bought they couldnt keep them in stock they were selling them like crazy. So if they didnt sell it to me they would sell it to the next guy in the door. The dealer that had my 06 had four of them on the showroom floor and all of them were sold within three weeks. The only bikes I try and haggle on the price is used but most of the used bikes I get the guy is usually asking a more than fair price. If they asked too much in there ad I usually dont even bother going to look at it.

I paid $12,900 for my '07 new. But got more for my 650 Yamaha on trade than I paid for it. So I don't know if thats a good deal or not, but I am more than happy with the Nomad.

After much shopping around and haggling with the dealers I paid out the door for mine $11,500 cash only, I think it was something like $10,200 or something like that, however mine was a Black last year stock. He said it was costing him money to sell it to me at that (I believe that----------not)! Anyway if you are getting ready to buy good luck do plenty of shopping around they want to sell. [GOOSE]

I paid 11,500 OTD for my left over two tone 07' That was with them going to Ohio to get it.
That was last October and I think I got a pretty good deal including the fact they took my trade (other dealers didn't want to touch it) and gave me more than what I owed on it. Definately shop it around.

I paid $12,000 for my 07 Nomad (4500 miles) and a 5" x 10" Wells Cargo trailer which I later sold for $4000. The bike came with a mustang seat, lightbar, adjustable backrest, luggage rack, top and side bag rails, and tachometer. Included with the bike was a V&H Bagger exhaust and Power Commander USB which are still not yet installed. I think I got a steal. All it needed were new tires (I installed Elite 3's in September).
