funny whining noise

I get a funny whining sound when letting off throttle in any gear all of sudden .Then when pulling into garage heard clicking sound when rolling in neutral P.S. Have a clutch spring that needs replacing have the part but want to know if the noise is common to that problem or might it be something major ???.PLEASE HELP!

Where does the whining sound like its coming from on the bike? Clutches don't make any noise, they just slip when the spring gets tired.

When I firs bought my bike back in '05, I noticed a "whining" noise when letting off the throttle. It is more pronounced when decelerating going down hill. Had the dealer check it, and they said it was normal. Now it's 4 years later, and it still makes the same sound. I can't hear it as loud now, maybe the Modified Vance and Hines has something to do with it.

I wonder if its the cam chains you are hearing, have you checked to see if they are rubbing on the spark plug tubes? It may be time for cam tensioner extenders if you have a few miles on the bike.

Ring, when my cam chains were doing the spark plug tube thing, it just got noisy in general. No whining, just clatter. The same clatter noises you hear anytime, just more pronounced.

Didn't get whining noise but when my 2004 with 10K on it developed clicking sound rolling in neutral, it led to replacement of drive gears/ bearing. expensive repair but dealer said if I had ignored condition for more than a few miles, it could have been much worse as broken to pieces would have gotten into motor. Jack it up, spin rear wheel in neutral and see if you can locate click noise... if it is where shaft connects to engine, I suggest you get it checked.

Like VulcanE, I heard a similar whining noise shortly after I got my bike (used). I have read from several sources that the original equipment Bridgestone tires whine like this. Is it possible that is what you are hearing?

Thats not it at all! That sounds happens when todd opens his sack lunch and discovers his wife forgot to put a pack of twinkies inside!

Never had the noise in my 2006 but had the diff replaced 2 months ago and sure enough I have the whinning noise when I back of the throtle my mates 2008 does the same.
