Saw some snow today

Yessirree! Had to drive 160 miles north to Flagstaff, but there it was. Flagstaff has had a lot of snow fall in the past two weeks. 2'-3', with huge drifts courtesy of ADOT's snow removal crews. We pulled into a restaurant parking lot for lunch. I stepped down out of my 4x4 and went flat on my tush! Solid ice. How quickly one forgets. Haven't been anywhere near snow and ice for 10 years. Didn't want to. I remember why now. They can keep it up there.

As we were leaving Flagstaff, maybe 2 miles after we got on the freeway there was a sheriff's vehicle and a DPS cruiser sitting on the right shoulder with their lights flashing. On the other side of the snow drift was a huge elk. They were trying to spook it back into the trees so it didn't wander onto I-17 and become a hood ornament on a Peterbilt.

Other than a horrible amount of traffic heading to/from Flagstaff, it was a pretty good day...even with the parking lot ice incident.

And here today it shot up to 50 and rained rather hard most of the day.We had about 18" of snow on the lawn yesterday and now most of it is gone. If it stays warm tomorrow there will be very little left except at the roadsides where the plows pushed it. I may just take the bike around the block if it dries up for a bit.

Saw some snow today

About 27 years ago I drove a truck to Arizona in August and pulled in to a restaurant at night in Flagstaff. I had a short sleeve shirt on and some people had winter coats on, but I was surprised how chilly it was. A few hours later I was in Phoenix in 110* temp.
I still have a pic of a sign that has deer crossing next 35 miles :)

Hey Scott, it always good to be reminded of things we forgot but most of us usually try for a less painful/embarrassing method.

I was thinking on the way home yesterday with my Bronco in four wheel drive that a three wheeler with spikes might be fun.

Don't know how much snow we have on the ground in S Idaho but there is more on the way so I guess it does not matter. There will be no MC riding now for a few months. Maybe some of those good ole southern boys with 10k miles on a 4 year old Nomad can catch up to my odo now.

Good rule of thumb when exiting a vehicle is to hang onto something when you step out, steering wheel, door post anything to help arrest a rapid decent to the pavement.

Ahhhhh yes! The joys of snow and ice! Whenever I get to hankering for snow I remind myself of the times I stepped out of the house and all I could see of my car was the very tip of the radio antenna sticking out of the snow. :(

I reckon I will just stay here in Georgia.

I never had a chance. I stepped down out of my Bronco w/4" lift and my feet went right out from under me. I'm damn lucky I didn't crack my skull on my side step. I just tore my elbow up a little. My pride was hurt more than anything. There were a couple of guys getting in a backhoe who watched the whole thing. I thought they were going to bust a gut they were laughing so hard. My wife and son thought it was pretty humorous, too.

It was really cold up there yesterday. The morning low was -4 and it was in the low 30's when we were there, even with the sun shining.
