Beautiful day here ....high 64....supposed start raining tomorrow and then we'll be back to the highs of low 40's upper 30's. So.....I went for a nice ride.
On one of my stops I pulled up, put the kickstand down and by the time I let her lean over on the kick stand I realized..slight slopping of the area to the left-plus on gravel and the stand sunk in the ground a bit. Well......when I came back to the bike...sure enough couldn't stand it up. Tried once, twice, three times....no go.....handlebars full lock to right, standing on right floorboard.....nope. Get off bike tried lifting slightly off stand and see if I can inch bike up to where less slop to left....I can lift slightly off stand but can't push forward......darn! Look around.....mumble to myself 'guess I'll have to go back in the store and ask someone to help me set her up'. No...I don't want to....too embarrasing...so I sit down and give her one more try with a mighty grunt...........YES!!!!! and away we go. ![]() Gonna have to eat more Wheaties! :-/

Wow, good for you. That's was no easy task I'm sure.
But you better be careful not to strain something. ![]() I'm sure that someone would have helped you out. I woulda. But I know that when I've dropped bikes all I want to do is pick it up and drive away before someone sees me. Thank goodness for fullface helmets. ![]() |

...good job Nancy! Feels good to accomplish a task like that eh? When mine fell over in my driveway, I was so shocked and wanted it back up before anyone saw it, I just grabbed it and it came up like a bullet!! Amazing what one can do when the adrenaline starts to running. You go girl! :)

Just for the record, there is no shame in asking for help. I admire your perserverance though. Hell I have to have Cindy help me when I drop my Nomad. Damn that thing is heavy.

A few months ago I pulled into my garage and put my foot down on a bolt,it rolled, and I dropped my "Beloved Nomad". :`( I tried different things to get it up and the last thig was I grabbed the passenger backrest and up she went. At least when you drop one in front of an audience you have help to up right it. Not a scratch on the bike,no damage to pride, sore back for a day. :)

I almost did something foolish but talked myself out of it. I thought since I was able to lift the kickstand a bit....but unable to roll it forward to where there was less of a left downward slant.....I could just start it while standing to the left and give it very gently throttle to scoot up a bit.....I could see the kickstand folding and it laying there on the gravel so I talked myself out of that one. ::)
Although I'm a brunette that would have been a dumb blond moment.

Out for a ride once stopped in a beautiful small charming town in Vermont (was up there doing travel nursing). Pulled nose in to a parking spot.....dang parking spaces slightly slopped to sidewalk......could not back out (where is the reverse gear when you need it). A young couple walking down the sidewalk. So here comes this lady.....leather jacket.....full face helmet...in my best southern accent 'can you pull me back'?.......LOL I could tell I made his day.....he was very nice .......I could hear him and the lady giggling as I put it in 1st to drive off. ![]() Yeah I know....should have back in but sometimes that don't work either....ever tried to back in a parking space that you can't quite muscle the bike back and there is ALWAYS a car sitting in the lane waiting on you to finish backing in the space. So you abandon the idea and go park somewheres else. :-[ I don't know this may just be problems us females have. :-/ You'll have to ask Todd and some of the folks who went to the Eastern Rally about the stories we told them about some of my adventures.....everybody was laughing so hard at some of my...ah adventures I don't know how they ate their lunch.

Although I've never dropped my Nomad, I have dropped two previous bikes that I've owned. It's always been said that there's two types of riders......those that have dropped their bikes and those that some day will.
I knew you could do it Nancy... ![]()
