Took a fall

Took a fall Ride that is. Had to stop and get a photo of the colorful trees in the background. Soon all these leaves will be gone and this road will be covered in snow.

TSK TSK. :(" title="" border="0"/>

Glad your just joking and didn't fall. What part of the world you riding in?

I nearly bit the asphalt today. Left early this morning for a ride. It had rained a little over night and the ground was damp. The lanes were dry though from the traffic and it was 1C. I was cruising at about 115 km/h and was crossing a bridge when suddenly the rear of the bike tried to overtake the front.
Did the old cheek clench and hung on till I hit dry pavement on the other side.

I carefully negotiated all other bridges for the rest of the day. Managed to cover 700 km without any other surprises.

Glad it was just a joke. Still have a few leaves here, but if mother nature gets her way, there won't be any soon. Hoping to get to ride to work a couple of days at the end of the week. Tomorrow the 6am forecast is 39 so I'll probably give it a try, end of the day prediction is 63, that ain't bad. Today is just too cold and wet.

Took a fall

I too am glad it was a joke. Leaves are falling here and mostly taking their sweet old time. I wish that they would all fall on one day. Get it over with. Hit the ground in one pile.

Took a fall

Monday us Patriot Guards escorted two bus loads of soldiers 80 miles south to the Memphis airport for deployment to Iraq for one year. It was 38 that morning which is cold this time of year for us folks. Made our turn out kinda low...started out with 10 bikes and 5 more joined us just north of Memphis at Millington. Had Tennessee Highway Patrol escort all the way to Memphis the Memphis PD took over, so able to role thru all the red lights etc..

Actually the only thing that got cold was my fingers but not so bad that I couldn't stand it. Well, worth the trip to show our support.

Took a fall

Like the others I'm glad it was a joke.

On the 11th of Oct I and a friend left Poquson/Newport News VA and headed to Skyline drive to take in the beauty of the mountains. We stopped in Charlotsville for gas and after filling up pulled into a couple of parking spots to streatch our legs and get some water before continuing the ride. As we were getting ready to leave I was sitting on my Nomad with my gear on waiting from my friend to gear up. I had just put the kickstand up when my friend yelled "Gary lookout" no sooner did I hear the words than a pickup hit me. To my luck he was moving very slowly, looking at my friends 900 and hit the breaks at the same time he hit me.

The pickup hit the luggage rack and pushed the Nomad onto it's left crash bars and left higheay peg. Only damage done to the bike were scratchesto the bars and peg. When he hit me I pitched forward and the right side mirror hit me in the lower lip as the bike went over. Bled like crazy but no real damage. Except for the blood on a very well maintained Nomad.

My friend helped me get the bike upright and the Police were called and took a report, since it was on private property thats all that was done, although they did document his insurance information. My friend checked the Nomad over while I was trying to get the blood to stop and once I got it slowed down I went over it myself and then again with my friend. Other than the crash bars and highway peg there was only a small amount of paint transfer where the pickup hit the luggage rack.

Since my lip would not completely bleeding and my wrist was sour we decided to call it a day and head back home. Got home and my wife and I went over the Nomad again and didn't find any more damage. On Monday the 13th I took it to the dealer for an oil change and had them go over it with me and didn't find anymore damage, so I ordered the parts to fix it up. They came in last week and on Saturday she was good a new.

I turned it into my insurance (Geico) and they have already paid the damage over my deductable and will reimburse me when they collect from the other guys insurance.

Still going to make the trip up Skyline drive, maybe in a couple of weeks.

Oh me Nomardgary - glad you're okay!

Oh BTW..........'Look out!'.........Sorry I couldn't resist. At least that's better than what I yelled at my husband when I noticed his Goldwing rolling off the kickstand and falling after he got off....I just yelled 'Baby...Baby..the bike...baby'. LOL

The scene is in North Eastern Washington State near the town of Medical lake. Plenty of backroad riding around here.

That's sweet nomadwest, I love backroad cruising.

I was down near those parts this summer. I had stopped at a gas station in Chewelah to fuel up and buy a map, when this guy came up to me and asked if I was lost. ::) I said no but was just wondering what my options were for driving east. He informed me that they had just paved the road from Chewelah to Usk and said it be worth my while. Boy was he right, it was BEAUTIFUL and no traffic. I met many nice folk on my trip through the Northwest.
