Help. Blew ECM fuse. Why???

Last week I did the Caddmann mod on right side only (I also unplugged the green wires on the solenoids, taped them and put them in plastic wire wrap) and installed a TFI. I set the TFI at the recommended settings and then over the next few days rode about 150 miles with no problems. Today, I thought I would fine tune the TFI. I set the 1st pot to where the high idle would not increase anymore (2:45). I then started to try to adjust the 2nd pot. I started at 3:00. I then went for a short ride hitting the throttle pretty hard to see if it would hesitate. About the 3rd time, I blew the ECM fuse and the bike stalled. Any suggestions on what would cause this and where to start looking to fix it???

Was your TFI a plug & play type? If you had to splice any wires, I would double and triple check them. I also would strongly recommend soldering any spliced connections and use heat shrink over the connections.

Double check the wires you removed from the solenoids also. Make sure your taping and wrapping didn't come undone.

That's exactly what Caddmann said would possibly happen if ICS wires were not taped and/or shrink wrapped securely.

As Bob suggested, double check those wires.

TFI is plug & play. Rechecked solenoid wires and they are still taped and wrapped. Haven't had a chance to look into it further. Is the fuel system the only thing that runs through this fuse?

fireman68: Thats a weird deal. I just did what you did about 3 weeks ago and Im fine here, no problems. It will take some hunting this down to try and fix it, or it might never do it again.

Rechecked all the wiring. The ICS wires were fine. The only thing I could find was one of the wires from the TFI to the throttle bodies was pinched by the gas tank. It didn't break the wire or rub off any insullation, just made a hole in the wire cover sleeve. Repaired it and relocated it and put it back together. It started ok and ran fine. Can't go for a test drive due to rain. Hopefully this was the problem.
