Phantom Stall-out

I left work this afternoon knowing I needed to get gas. At a stop light a half block from work, the Nomad stalls. Acting as if it was out of fuel. Started and stalled 2 more times. 3rd time ran as usual so I went to a station 1/2 mile away and filled up. 4.75 gals. Approx 1/2 gal left. I am guessing there was some fuel starvation due to the 1/2 gallon of fuel and the bike leaning all day. Just doesn't seem right for an EFI system. Any ideas? I hope its a one time issue. Thanks!

Yes this has occurred on mine the time I let it really run low. Bike would stall, I would shake the bike around a bit and could hear the gas sloshing around. It did start back up after a couple of stalls I headed to the nearest gas station.

Thanks for the reply. I feel some relief.

I wonder if it has anything to do with '08 Silver/Blue models? ;) I have one too! (Besides being fastest)

You will never burn up all 5.3 gallons. It will stall first even with up to near a gallon left.

The most I have ever put in the tank was 5.179 gallons. It wasn't stalling on me but the low light had been on solid for a good while. I had slowed down to about 40 mph for the last 15 miles hoping for a gas station soon. Didn't think I would have to go about 45 miles to get to the next gas station when the low light first flickered. I went 217.6 miles on that tank.

I've put 4.89 in my tank with the fuel light on for about 25 miles. Too close for comfort!

I have filled up with over 5 gallons as well. It was during a mostly highway speed ride. I decided to see if I could make it home when the light came on. I was with some friends, so there was no problems if I ran out. Made it w/o any indication of stalling. I mostly do in-town type riding. wonder if the tank design and speed may have some bearing on fuel pickup. It seems rather strange to run out of fuel with 1/2+ gallon left.

I think I put 4.8 or 4.9 once. scared the hell out of me. Thought for sure I'd stall out and get nowhere.
