roll bag on headlight buckets

Did anyone place their roll bag on top of the buckets? I think it would be more secure there using the straps around the light bar then on top of the main pack.
Also would the buckets get to hot to have the textile roll bag against ??? Thanks

roll bag on headlight buckets

One friend with a vn2000 has a tool bag on the front that touched the bucket and over a six month period the bucket chrome is now scratched. Here in Florida a little blown sand grit between the bag and the bucket was bad news for him.

Headlight is hot. And textile material could be a problem. I did see a headlight lens melt once on 1600 classic last winter. A sweatshirt was laid on top of the bucket covering the lens. By the way the lens is plastic. It trapped enough heat within 10-15 minutes to that the lens hazed over a spot about the size of a silver dollar and actually blistered the lens.

I carry a bag over the light using a piece of felt for protection. I wouldn't pack a tuna sandwich there though :)

I've carried a sleeping bag there just because I didn't have enough room to put it on the back. it was fine although the weather was cool that day & I keep moving at highway speeds.
