Man commits 3 robberies while riding motorcycle

by Taryn Brady - Sept. 24, 2008 06:56 PM
The Arizona Republic

Mesa police are looking for a man they said who committed three robberies while on his motorcycle.

The robberies occurred in August and September in the Fry's parking lot at 1915 South Power Road.

In each incident, the man rode his motorcycle into the parking lot, approached the victims and took their purses while still on the motorcycle, according to Mesa Police Department public information officer Diana Tapia.

In one of the incidents, the victim was dragged a short distance while the robber tried to pull the purse away from her. This victim suffered minor injuries.

The suspect is described as a white male appearing to be in his mid 20's with short dark hair and clean-shaven. He rode a black sports motorcycle. In one of the incidents he was wearing a black T-shirt, blue jeans and a baseball cap, officials said.

Anyone with information is urged to call Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS (948-6377).

Clever? No. Wrong? Yes. I hope that some other biker sees him and stops him...that would improve the image that this jerk is destroying.

Looks like they caught the punk in the story at the top of this thread. Dumbass did the purse-snatching in the same parking lot each time.

The Arizona Republic

A man suspected of stealing purses from three women in Mesa while riding a motorcycle was arrested Thursday, police said.

Ryan Worman, 22, was booked on suspicion of one count of robbery, two counts of theft, one count of theft of a credit card, and four counts of fraudulent use of a credit card.

Police said they identified Worman after he used one of the victim's credit cards at a Best Buy store.

Worman admitted to stealing the purses of three women in the Fry's parking lot at 1915 S. Power Road, according to a report. According to police, Worman said he stole the purses to support his drug habit.

He also admitted to using one of the stolen credit cards.

In one incident, the victim was dragged a short distance while the thief tried to pull the purse away from her. The victim suffered minor injuries.
