Anyone using the Mustang backrest?

Just wondering if anyone out there is using the Mustang driver backrest thats built in to the passenger seat? The one I'm speaking of is the driver backrest that is adjustable as well. If anyone out there is using it, how is the comfort? And if whoever has one could do me a favor and measure the height of the backrest from the top of the drivers seat to the top of the backrest that would be great. I'm currently using the fire and steel backrest with my Mustang drivers seat but the backrest is to far forward and a little high. I'm also going to possibly sell my passenger seat (Mustang studded) if I decide to purchase the passenger seat with backrest, if anyone is interested. I purchased the seat set and never used to passenger seat, it's just been sitting in the packaging, because I just run my Mustang driver seat solo. Any help would be much appreciated.. Thanks!

Anyone using the Mustang backrest?

I just traded in my Nomad with the Mustang seat and backrest but I can tell you it was more comfortable than the Goldwing Back rest I have now... As a matter of fact it was probably the most comfortable set up I had ever felt on a bike.....Go for it, you won't regret it.......

Anyone using the Mustang backrest?

I have a Mustang WBR on my 07 and love it. It is adjustable up and down as well as fore and aft. My backrest slips into a slot in the drivers seat. It is adjustable from a low of about 12 1/2 inches to 14 inches measured from the seat seam to the top of the backrest pad. But, I am not aware of a Mustang WBR in the pillion seat. You might want to do more research on that one.

Anyone using the Mustang backrest?

I had the Mustang Wide Touring seat set with the removable driver's backrest on my Boulevard. I loved it. Backrest inserts easily into a slot in the top of the driver's seat and removes with a sharp tug to dislodge it from the ratcheted notches (height settings). Stores easily into the bags.
The Mustang seat set WILL prop you up and forward a bit, but given some butt time and you'll settle in to "your spot" and love the Mustang.

My $.02,
Daryl

As a matter of fact, I just installed the Mustang studded touring seat w/driver backrest yesterday on my Nomad. The backrest mounts to the rider seat and not the pillion seat, though. Too soon to tell about how comfortable it is. I'll know after this weekend, because I'm planning a fairly long ride to try it out.

Anyone using the Mustang backrest?

Doc, I'm looking to sell my Mustang studded passenger seat if your interested? An FYI, the new backrest DOES mount into the passenger pillion/seat. If you all go to mustangseats.com and go about half way down the Kawasaki seat section you will see the individual passenger seat for sale with the driver backrest built into it in the front of the passenger seat/pillion. I originally purchased the Mustang wide studded set but never used passenger pillion, as my wife rides my old 800 Classic. So I have no need for the passenger pillion. I have the Kawasaki Fire and Steel driver backrest set up, but the driver backrest is too far forward and a little high. Does anyone know of an adapter to remedy the too high/forward Fire and Steel set up?

Anyone using the Mustang backrest?

I recently installed the mustand seat with backrest and went on my first overnighter (390 miles oneway). The seat was great and I wish I had purchased a backrest a long time ago. My wife said the pillion was more comfortable than the oem.

Protac makes a backrest that you can use with the solo seat arrangement. It mounts to the top of the shocks on teh shock bolts. I think they have a studded and plain version. Mine is the studded version.

Also, I had a problem with the Mustang BR placing me a little far forward (I wear a textile jacket and it was just enough extra padding to be a problem) So I found an off-set backrest post for the BR in J&P Cycles for about $24 or so and that was THE answer for me. Although it makes it a little cramped for the passenger, it is WAY better for the driver.

I still prefer the solo look on the Nomad but I just received a new jacket for my son since he has been asking me to take him on the bike whenever we need to go somewhere. So I doubt I will be using the solo set-up for a while now. :)
