Caddmann, BD, Nico, anyone else?
Hi Guys,
I have a 2003 1500. If I understand previous posts correctly (including Nico's), a bigger rear tire than stock is better, I should be able to put a 160/80/16 on the rear without any modifications or special issues...correct? Is there any reason the dealer would charge me more (than the stock size) to install it? I haven't asked them and they haven't said anything to that effect but wanted to be sure in case they say something. I also saw the post earlier about the location of the stock auxilary connection for a 1600. Is there also one or more on the 1500? Same location? Thanks Guys! (and gals too!)

The 160/80-16 will fit OK. That's what I run & no mods are required. The dealer shouldn't charge a dime more to install it either.
There is one aux. connection burried under the gas tank, right below the speedometer. The other one is back under the seat, close to where the tail light wires go thru the rear fender. Mine were tucked down between the frame rail and the computer so I had to poke the wires around to find them. |

Thanks Caddmann.....I knew you had a 1500 and you know it down to the last washer. If I am ever near Clovis the first pitcher is on me!

The wires you are looking for are white with blue (HOT) and black with yellow (GROUND)

I know I'm a bit late, but are those wires always live or just when bike is on?
I think I remember someone saying always. However I could not find it to back my thoughts up. If always live, are there some just for when the bike is on? or is that what Idaho was using the headlights for, when he mentioned tapping in. I need something for the radar. |
