Bolt torque values in FSM
I'm installing a new Kaw front fender trim and looked up the torque values for the front fender bolts. It says 61 in. #'s. That seems pretty light to me considering the size of the bolts. Some of the other values I have run across in the FSM seem pretty light too for the size of bolts. Does anyone else share this opinion? There's no way I'm going to hang my fender on with the bolts at 61 in.#.

Sometimes the torque seems light, maybe more important on pinch bolts where you really should leave them light. This looks like just under 6 foot ponds which no wrench I have will do in foot pounds.
When it comes to fenders, I use a drop of locktite and think about good and snugg with a 1/4 drive short ratchet will do it. So yeah at times these are a tad light. Another place you really don't want to over do tight is the plug that holds the oil screen. The plug is made of a lesser grade alloy, which is both good and bad. Recently I was chatting with someone who bought a used bike and the plug had been over tightened and stripped of threads going IN. This was discovered under doing in general over looking after the purchase. The plug was forceably removed, but left the engine case threads intact. So the bad part is you can sheer off the plug threads with ease, and in a alloy case, leaving some clean up to do on the case, but not wiping out the threads on the case which is good.
