Strobe light

Now this is strange!

On July 25 in Wolfman's thread "Thoughts on recent observations" the subject had drifted to lighting. I made the statement that I would like to get a white strobe light like they have on school buses.

On July 30, I was traveling south on I-85 just south of Atlanta and noticed a flashing light about half a mile away in the north bound lanes. When it got closer I saw that it was a white strobe mounted on the back of a motorcycle. It was on a shaft going straight up just behind the passenger backrest and was about shoulder high to the rider.

I'll bet no one misses seeing him as they come up from behind!

I want one.

That would be neat and good. I belive in VA that would also be illegal though.

One of the groups I ride with has a number of "outriders" who keep the group in check during big rides. They have strobes on the backs of their bikes so we can identify them. They use these little strobes that I believe, are designed for outdoor rescue purposes. Probably illegal as hell here, but nobody has ever said anything to us.

It certainly would help for visibility. I know I never miss seeing them on school buses around here. It just became law in ND that all occupied school buses must have a strobe light on top of the bus.

I thought that this was going to be a discussion on the B-52's song. Hmmm. Under those circumstances (the song) I'd get a strobe light in a heart beat.
