Russell "Day-Long" seat

Just put 1400 mile in 5 day. That may be no big deal for some, the biggest problem was the seat. I'm sure it could be better. Anyone have anything to say about the day-long seat. Had a mustang seat on the shadow loved the driver backrest it may be an option.

Audiogooroo we drove 550 from Durango up that is a million dollar drive

Isn't it the best? Especially if you miss the rain.
It is definitely one of my favorite rides!

I added a set of beads from Bead Rider. Seemed to make the ride a little better. Still does get a little hard after a 650 mile day. But it does reduce getting a wet bum.

I bought a beaded seat cover a week or so ago and haven't really been able to try it out yet on a long ride.

I only know one other who rides with beads. He really likes his and also got a set for his wife to ride on. She likes it better than the gel pad. I have had a lot of comments and questions on mine when out riding. On a cool morning, you can actually feel the air moving under your bum.

I know what you're saying. I have had a set of his-n-her beads for 3 years now, and they do help a lot. Like you said, in the mornings, or after you've been off the bike a while, standing around talking and taking a butt break. You can get back on and start down the road, and feel the cool air circulating under your bum. I do get lots of questions from other riders when they see them.

papat, bobzinger has a daylong seat from russels you may want to get hold of him as I'm sure he could answer questions. I wish I would have gotten one in the begining would have saved me a lot of money. first bought a corbin then had my stock seat redone. I have more in the pair of them than I would have had in the russels. The only down side I can see with the Russells is you either have to go to them,[not really a down side its just a matter of logistics] or do with out your seat for a couple of weeks while they redo yours. But of everyone I talked to that either has one or know someone with one they are highly recomended.

I made my own set of beads for the seat. Haven't taken it for more than 100 miles so far but it does help. And yes it does get very cool on the hind end on a cool morning.

Hey Papat...
After going thru $1000+ and 3 seats on my Roadking to be comfortable I decided to go with what I considered to be the best bet for comfort the first time on my Nomad. I liked the look of the Corbin better and their Hollister factory is only 2 hours away, but they will only customize the fit to the point where the stock seat cover will still fit. So I made an appointment and rode 233 miles to the Day-Long shop in Shasta Lake, CA and had it made while I waited. So I rode home that same day...what a difference...No Hot Spots! The next weekend I did a 3 day 650 mile trip and 2 weeks later a 4 day 1000 trip to Oregon. Just yesterday I woke up at 5:30 and rode up to Lake Tahoe for the day...384 miles RT. NO PAIN. Next weekend our group is doing a 680 mile 3 day ride. It's the best money I've spent on the Nomad. Some folks spend just as much on a GPS or chrome. The Russell Day-Long can be expensive depending on options...mine was $770 OTD including front and back, heavyweight suspension (they add upholstery springs), and the $80 drive in service. A built-in backrest is available, but with the improved seating position I don't need it. This picture is my bike the day they made the seat.

VulcanE, Did you make them or is there a place to purchase a set to fit the Nomad?
