Has anyone used any other shocks on a 06 1600 Nomad? I saw a few posts indicating that Progressive Suspension had shocks that would fit but according to them they do not.

tnx all

Guys have used the Progressives and HD shocks as well. I believe you have to change the bushings in the eyes of the shock to fit them on the Nomads. Its a pretty easy swap to do.

I understand you can put Harley shocks on one for half the price of Kawi's, but of course nobody advertizes that fact. With the 1500's you must change the HD rubbers to fit the 1500 shock studs. Since 1600's have a needle bearing upper shock mount (why I do not know) you'd probably have to forego that and use regular rubber isolators.

It would be nice for a company like Progressive to make a direct-replacement aftermarket shock for the Nomad. It would give us a choice.

What is a "needle bearing upper shock mount"?? I'm familiar with a bolt on the top & bottom, a couple of spacers, couple rubber pieces and your done.

Check the link I posted CJ. I think that's pretty close, or at least as close as anybody makes.

They used to make them up until a couple years ago. they stopped because of poor sales.

Nope.

I also was looking at these, which the seller says can be ordered for heavy bikes like the Nomad and are completely rebuildable:
