MOTORCYCLE JACK

:)Does any one use a auto trolley or floor jack to lift their bike?Where do you place the jack on the bike to lift it? Is some type of adaptor or modification needed? I saw a 2 ton on sale this week.Any suggestions?

I think that most of us that lift our bikes use a motorcycle floor jack. You place it under the crankcase of the engine. one of the members here (Idaho) has an adapter available, that steady's the bike a lot better while it is on the jack.

This one from Craftsman. I also have the Idaho Adapter (not shown in the photo.) Works much better with the adapter.

You can send him a PM (personal message). To do this look at the top of the page where you will see:

Hey, rooster1, you have 0 messages, 0 are new.

Click on the word "messages" and you will enter the personal message application. Then click on the "new message" icon. Type in idaho in the "To" section and enter your message. This is sort of like an email function.

I'd be worried of knocking it over by accident. How stable is that?
Is it strapped to the jack?

The bike was not strapped down on that occassion, but normally I do use the straps. Still, it's pretty stable.

It was indeed stable enough to change the rear wheel by my self. In order to do so alone I need to jack the bike just so to remove the rear axle, so the tire rests on the ground and the axle is unloaded. Once the axle is out, I jack the bike fully to get the tire from under the fender.

To do it that way, you cannot have the straps on.

I have since purchased the jack adapter from Idaho, and the bike is even more stable with it attached. It also allows the bike to go up another inch.
