Nomad re-assembly
Shop called, said my final drive will be ready Tues or Wed. I've got everything needed for re-assembly. Any pointers from you guys with manuals? Where and how much do I grease?

Grease the needle bearings well, and lightly grease both the inner races, plus the swingarm bolt and axle bolt. Basically you grease the bolts so they don't rust. That would make them very hard to remove. Grease the swingarm pivot seal lips before assembly.
Lightly grease the inner and outer splines on the front yoke. Lightly grease the pinion splines. Grease the inner splines on the rear of the shaft well plus put an extra spoonful of grease up in the coupler. Clean out the splines on the wheel hub thoroughly, and grease them moderately. Grease the mating splines on the gear box lightly just before assembly. Over-doing the grease really does not help. Excess will just sling out and make a mess. The only place you want extra is inside that rear driveshaft coupler. |

It sprung a leak. Looked like it was coming from the seals inside the hub, at least that's where the gear oil looked like it was coming from. The shop just called an hour ago and said it was ready. So, I'm going to put the bike back together tonight.
Spirello, is that an HD fairing on yours? That's my next project. |

I would add grease to the center spacer on both inside and out too. I am sitting here wondering why Cadd didn't mention it. it for sure will rust with out any, as mine already had.. A, 06.

Nomad re-assembly
Everything is back together. The shop replaced ALL of the seals. It appears they did everything ok, except they way overfilled it. I drained about 500cc's of gear oil. Then filled it properly with my usual stuff. So far, so good. Saturday I start my next project, adding the Harley fairing.
