Same Old Shiite !! Someone farted at a Shell facility in Nigeria today, and oil shot up to $ 143.67 at one point. Saw a report tonight on Nightline about folks installing an extra gas tank on their trucks, cost- $ 1,500.00, and travelling across the border into Mexico to get gas. Unleaded there is about $ 2.50 per gal, and diesel is about $ 2.00 per gal.
Question is : How's everybody holding up ? Still riding as much ? Let's get some updates.

It definitely cuts way down on discretionary spending and adds considerably to the aggravation factor.

So far so good, but I do think about the price of gas often.I probably use more regular now than in the past. On the other hand, I certainly leave the truck parked more now and ride the bike more.

Well... I'm riding the Nomad more since as most of you know, my other choice of transportation is a F250 Diesel... We have cut back on our needless driving... eating more at home and less out... cut back on a lot of other 'expenses'. So..we definitly been affected!!

As for the guys driving over to Mexico...the US is going to be clamping down on that too...since there is a law that says you can only bring 100 gallons back from Mexico. I saw that on a news report also. You had to know it wasn't going to be as easy and going to Mexico!! LOL!

Oh I agree, JM. It's just a matter of time before big brother shuts down that little fuel loophole. Cuts into their kickback profits.

Well I try to run all my errands on one outing and as much as possible on the bike now. Also would help if I don't leave the car running in the drive for 4-5 hours anymore ::).

Alot of people in my area have switched back to horse and buggy, you see several a day up and down the roads. Some of the farmers are also plowing using mule teams

People are definitely driving slower on the highway around here.

Our Excursion(V10 13MPG) stays in the Garage most of the time. My wife drives the escape (24MPG) and I commute on the Nomad. Only use the Excursion for when the whole family needs to ride together, which is usually just Church on Sunday.

I just spoke to a guy who has a Smartcar, it goes 600 kilometres (400 miles) on $20.00, my truck takes about $140.00 to cover that distance.

I been retired since last September so I don't have to drive to work 5 & 6 days a week. That is a big help. Don't drive the truck if I cam help it.
Cindy and i will still go 200 miles on the Nomad just for sh*ts and giggles. Stop and have lunch somewhere so I guess it hasen't hurt me to bad yet.
The alternative to using gas for me would be to stay home, thats not going to happen. If I want to go some place I'm going.
