yet another seat thread!

O.k. most all of you agree that the stock seat sucks. I have investigated after market seats, and after the initial sticker shock, came to realize ( after numerous emails and blogs ) that the mustang and corbin will tend to push you further up the tank. This I can ill afford being 6.2 and long legged. So I opted to rework my stock seat over the winter. Still not sure if I'm happy with it, and the wife found my mods were pressing on her thighs too hard..........gag, now what? Is the " Day Long " my only option? I don't really want to be raised up by gell pads or seat covers and not convinced that they will help.

Voyager, I also am 6'2" and @240 lbs not a small fella either . My inseam is 34" and I have the mustang seat with the drivers backrest. When I first put it on, it did feel like I was sitting closer to the tank, but after getting used to it, I found that I was really sitting in a better riding position. I ride from tank-to-tank with no problems and do like the mustang seat alot. Wife is also pleased with the pillion too............. Just my thoughts

When I added my backrest from grasshopper my sore tailbone days were over and I actually like my stock seat now. I'm also 6'2" and I found the backrest pushed me forward just enough so I wasn't sitting my tailbone on the back part of the seat where it raises up. Overall its a better position and I have the highway pegs when I need to stretch out a bit. My last trip was 1100 miles in 3 days and never got a sore butt. Before the backrest I remember my tailbone would hurt pretty bad just after one full day ride.

The down side to this seat, the seats on the 1500's & 1600's aren't interchangable. They mount differently to the bikes. :(

I'm 6'3 and just put a Corbin solo on and will ride it tonight, but after sitting on it, I'm definitely back and down. I have to lower my windshield because now I'm looking through it a bit. This is on a 1500, so compared to my stock seat, this is what it does - not sure if that translates the same to a 1600.

At 6"2" I also went for a mustang with backrest. No problems being too far forward, love it and can ride all day. Agree with others that it put you in a better position. You can buy a mustang seat and get thirty days to try it out. I actually did that on my earlier 1500 classic and they took it back no questions asked. Worth a try.

I dont know what it is about getting old ! I could ride a motorcycle all day when younger and never get a sore butt. We must lose fat there or grow extra nerves in that area as we age.

Is that Mustangs policy, or the dealer you purchased it from? I may take them up om that offer if its still available.

I used to have a Mustang Seat on my previous 900.
It was a really good seat and I would swear to never ride on anything else.
However.....The stock seat on the Nomads are not too bad if your comparing to a stock seat on a 900 Classic LT.

I'm thinking that I will give the stock seat on my new Nomad a try for a while and maybe just get a back rest for it. On the other hand....I my think differently after a day long ride on the Nomad as I have not yet done this yet.

not sure if its mustang or just dealer. dealer was ab extreme suzuki. very easy to deal with over phone. gave the thirty day return, no questions asked. also one of the best prices I could find. both my brother and i have ordered seats from them. 800-646-7741 or 866-848--0355 hope this helps

I too am 6' 2", 34" inseam but pushing 300 lbs. I had the Mustang wide regal 3 piece seat but had a chance on a Corbin and picked it up. My old body likes the harder Corbin seat better than the Mustang. We put the Mustang on Liz's 08 and she likes it fine.
