got rear-ended, need parts

barely had this bike for a few months and i am in love with it! got tapped at a stoplight with my lady on it. no ones hurt, thankfully. bikes totaled but only cosmetic damage. its kinda working in my favor , i was already getting new pipes and mini apes, so they are paid for now thx to a decent settlement but things like rear fender and hard bags ($1300 a piece new!!) are crazy expensive.

craigslist doth fail me. internet searches are tough too.

any ideas were i might be able to find some things?

ps i may try to fix the bags on my own unless i can find some decently priced.

thx for any help.

Sometimes ebay can be your friend, and Meanstreak parts don't fit the 1600s, but any 1500 or 1600 saddlebags will fit.

I'd find a bike that got hit in the front. Buy the whole bike and use what you need then sell what you don't. You may even come out ahead.

I'd agree with Dave on that. Always guys looking for a new motor and tranny, selling that alone could help balence the cost or just keep the second bike as a personal parts warehouse.

I've got a complete rear fender assembly you can have real cheap. The issue is always the shipping costs. It's such a big item, getting it packaged up accordingly will be a challenge. But I'll do the leg work if you're interested. If so, I'll take some pics and send them to you and then you can decide. Best to email me back because I don't always check on this site on a regular basis. kclark@iamDL14.org

I can't believe they totaled that bike with just that amount of damage, don't look that bad in the pics.

$2600 for bags alone + fender, tail light turn signal and maybe pipes the way he writes, plus labour. Adds up fast

I couldn't believe it was totaled either! They actually came up with a figure of $9,000 after labor! Basically the pipes got dented and so they need to be replaced and factory pipes are apparently like $1,400 as opposed to some Vance and Hines which were like $600, the bags are 1300 each, new Fender about 900, needs a new tire, new blinker and brake light. Crazy.

I bought the bike for 4500 with only 11000 miles on it and It has like $3000 in extras. and they're offering me 6500 for it or 4900 and the bike back for salvage. I'm like fuck it man give me that bike back! I believe I can fix it for $2,000 and make a buck on the deal.

I thought about just buying another one, harvesting all the goodies off the broken one. Or just fixing this one... Ugh I'm not sure I just wanna ride.

Is the 1600 classic the same rear fender as a 1600 Nomad?
