whining has ceased

Early in the evening thunderstorms rolled through and a nice cold front pushed out that nasty heat wave. I went out to watch it roll in from the front porch. It never ceases to amaze me the power of nature. There was a tornado watch for the upstate NY and VT areas. That's rare. I have DishNetwork and you can check the weather for your area on it. Temp for my town was 97 at about 4:00 pm. Enjoyed my swim in the White River after work yesterday. Would have been much nicer though if I drove up to South Royalton where junction of 14 & 110 and the Vermont Law School is. Those gals are out on the rocks down at the river. The forecast for tomorrow night is 45F. I should sleep like zombie because I have only been getting about 6 hours in this heat wave. I'm glad I have a new delivery truck because I've had the A/C going all day long. I haven't been delivering oil though. I expect that I will get a route Thursday. In the meantime I have been working on a project of putting company stickers on propane tanks from a company that we bought out not too long ago. I am out and about going around to the customer's house to do this. I have been working in my town and the towns around me and get to explore all the roads hardly anyone ever goes on. Many times there is only one house at the end of the road. This is very hilly country and most of the time you are driving in the shade of the trees. A few times I have been out to the end of the road, but my GPS doesn't show it as a deadend. My street map does show a dotted line, but sometimes that just means that they don't maintain that part of the road in the winter. Driving on these roads in the winter is really a challenge, but it is very beautiful and absolutely gorgeous during a snowstorm.

I'm glad to know your whining has ceased and you have some relief from the heat. It's one thing to live with heat in a desert where we are prepared for it, it's another thing to have to suffer a heatwave in a location that usually has moderate weather.

Good to hear that the heat has subsided, at least for a little bit. You can definitely have some of our cool weather here. Right now it's raining really nice, and the temp is only 44. The forecast for today is a high of only 50. Doesn't look like the Nomad is going to get out of the garage today. The weekend sounds nice, back into the 70s. Hopefully it will be nice for Father's Day.
Racinchef, that sounds like beautiful country out your way. One of the places on my list of places to visit in my lifetime is the east coast. Hopefully I will make it there one of these years.

More rain for us last night. We have been in the 70s and 80s for a couple of weeks now. In July and August we'll get our heat wave.

I have been to Phoenix and Tuscon, but that was for Christmas 1980. The temp was 70F every day. I rented a Yamaha 400 and rode out to Apache Junction, through the Superstitious Mountains to Roosevelt Dam and then on to Globe before heading back to Tempe where my sister lived. I also rode out to Pioneer City on another day and to Tuscon another.

I was out to Imperial, Nebraska in the SW corner a few years ago in August, but not by bike. It was very hot, very dry and very flat. Drove from there down to Missouri through Kansas and then back to Vermont. After going the length of Kansas, getting from Pennsylvania to Vermont seemed pretty quick.

Hey, you were in my neck of the woods. Only live about 120 miles from there. Just a hop, skip and a jump. I laughed when you said flat. That's not flat. I can show you some areas that are as flat as a pancake for miles.

Well, relatively flat as compared to where I live. I have been to Colorado too. Twice to Fort Carson for two weeks at a time in Army Reserve. Think that it was in the mid-90's. Did rent a mini-van 2nd time and drove up Pike's Peak and to the state fair. Otherwise all I saw was from the tank gunnery range at the south end to the main base at the north end. I did love the mountaiins, but damn it was hard to work at that altitude.

Glad you got some relief on the heat. Our relief here in south Texas wont come until long about November. But then again, our "winter" usually lasts about 45 minutes one afternoon in February.

Unless there actually IS weather in progress, then you lose signal from the satellite. At least that has been my experience with Dish in the rain over the last 7 years. I still prefer it to cable but, it is frustrating.
