Raisng the floor boards on the Vaquero

Has anybody looked at making a mod to lift the floor boards just that little extra to offer more ground clearance? I know we lots of great welders and fabricators here. I have lots of ideas for improvement, just not the know how, hahaha. From some the reviews, it has been stated that the shift lever is high, so raising the floor boards would help there and as for the brake side, I'm sure it will also help for covering the brake pedal ;) You are welcome hahaha

The shift lever should be on a splined shaft and is adjustable.

So no one has made something similar to aftermarmet rear sets for the floor boards? I'm new to this bagger bike life, trying to inject new ideas, lol

I get all the ground clearance I need on my Vaquero by simply pumping up the rear shocks to 35 psi. I do, however, have on mine a pair of theses really awesome boards made by Roaring Toyz inc. in Florida and I think they have a little more clearance than stock. They were a bit spendy, but well worth it. Much nicer than the o.e.m. units.

Duc79....got to cruisercustomizing.com ...you can order up a set of Kuryakn rear "mini" boards like the ones on the rear of my bike. (Refer to my thread Freedom performance pipe) the post I just put up has photos of those boards and they were I think just over $100.00. You might find a pair cheaper on Ebay....maybe. The backs are chrome and they function nicely and look great when folded back.

On my Voyager, once the boards touch, the exhaust is only a hair from touching also. The boards have give to them, pivot with springs, the pipes dont. Would rather have a brief warning before hard unyielding parts hit and start trying to lift tires off the road.

Look under your floorboards (front and rear) and you will see that they rest on rubber dampers and the boards actually droop down, more-so if the rubbers are worn or torn away. I removed all the rubbers and replaced them with 1/4 nylon bolts with nuts on the bottom (2 per board), had to file the heads down to get the thickness just right but my boards now all tilt up slightly. This gives about an inch extra cornering clearance and I think its a more comfortable angle for my feet, so does my passenger. No change in vibration.
I also modified my forks with Racetech springs and cartridge emulators and set the sag to 32mm (its about 50 mm stock), and have Works Performance rear shocks that are 10 mm longer than stock which raised the rear 25 mm.
I don't drag anything around any curves any more!
