1700 vulcan or voyager

Has anyone wired this bike only for a trailer what I want to know is this a four wire trailer system or a five wire system as it has an LED tail light.

2012 VV is 5 wire, now the "problem"

I added Chuckster trailer hitch and cooler carrier and since my plate was covered up I added a set of LED lights to the cooler carrier, L/R turn, Brake, Running and a ground., I just made a parrellel connection under the seat so bike lights and the new lights came on at the same time. Thought that this should not be an issue.

Well with this setup the Cruise control would not come on. Seems that the Cruise system "looks" at the load on the brake light to deactivate it. So I had to have only the carrier brake light connected when using the carrier.

I also am setup with a Bushtec trailer connector (6 wire has hot lead) but that uses an isolation relay and does not effect the cruise control. I plan on rewiring the 5 wire plug through the iso relay so there will be no nead to keep disconnecting the brake wire.

Ok that's a new one. Adding a brake light causing the cruise control to malfunction. Just goes to show how fragile these electrical systems can be. Looks like the isolater is a good idea for multiple reasons.

Cruise control cancel is part of the switch on the front brake level and on the rear pedal. I think you got a switch out of adjustment.

I've had Chucksters Hitch on mine since late 2010. Pulled two different trailers...one had the 5 wire to 4 wire converter, the other had no converter- just the 5 wire. I've never had any cruise issues that I know of.
