Indian Motorcycle tour
Indian had an event in Tucson two weeks ago. Drove the Road Master. Very nice bike, real smooth ride and allot of power. Loved the electric windshield height adjustment and all the stock chrome and accessories on these bikes, but I don't see spending $26,000 on the bottom line Road Master in my lifetime.
If you get a chance, ride one, real nice bike. I didn't care for the wheel base length though, seemed a bit more cramped than my Voyager. I like the trunk opening forward too, rather than sideways. No heel shifter. Adjustable pax floorboards. Very comfortable stock seat too. Stock exhaust sound, not as good as I expected, but again, it had power to spare.

I've seen a couple of Indians on the dyno, and I have to say I'm impressed. With the big 3, they were all pulling 100 hp and 110-115 lb-ft. Very linear power and the torque was more of a plateau than a curve. Have to keep in mind that they are 111 cid, so I would expect a lot of umph.
Personally, and this is only an opinion, I think the faring is the ugliest thing I have ever seen, and the motor is a work of art.

OK, three weeks ago I traded my '05 nomad 1600 in on a '14 Indian chieftain. It is the most perfect bike (for me) I have ever ridden.
That said, I feel kinda silly still coming to this forum everyday. I have been coming here everyday for the last two years. Although I don't post much, I feel I learn a lot by listening and talking little. This is a great forum and a great bunch of members here. I listened and: used the lower wind deflectors- work great Memphis shades batwing w/add on deflectors-fantastic and on/off in seconds mustang seat-not much difference visually, but way more comfort/support sportster solo rack- looks great and uses existing mounting holes darkside-vanco II 195/65-16 best tip I got from you guys air-lite engine guard chaps-really nice for cold/wet riding toilet tank gasket holds hardbags solidly in place-thanks Gadget O-ring cruise control- best 10 cents ever spent balancing beads-used on bike, Cherokee, Liberty. I'll never balance w/weights again Russell daylong- never put one on the nomad, didn't like the look. But hey, you guys haven't been wrong yet, so I just put one on the Chieftain. Ya know what, you were right again. Fantastic seat. So, if you don't mind, I'll still be hanging around, even if I don't have a Vulcan anymore, to see what else I can learn. |

Hey swirly - by all means stick around - and share pics of your bike whenever you get a chance. A lot of people on here would be very interested to hear about the Chieftan good or bad, and what mods are possible. (Like that RDL for instance, got any pics of that on a Chieftan?)

With intake, exhaust and fuel controller that sounds about right.

Which isn't stock. I forgot about the "big three mods". Don't need it.

My best guess is that if ever I get one, it will be a used one ! |
