How to power up GPS unit on my scooter
Does anybody have any insider tips on powering up a GPS unit on a Nomad? I have a Garmin Nuvii 360 model, with a power cord and mount but the wire is very small gauged and the extra power cables in the headlight seem large...different gauge of wire all together.
I appreciate any tips, Thanks Windrider Login or Register to Remove Ads |

It would be the opposite situation that should worry you. Roughly speaking (in other words not to get too technical here) you can plug lots of skinny wires into one fat wire, but you never want to plug a fat wire into a skinny wire.
That fat wire can provide 10 amps, while the Garman probably only needs 1 amp or less. |

I mounted a cigarette lighter on the bike and use it to charge stuff and power accessories.

The BIGGER wire is NO PROBLEM,, it just can DRAW MORE AMPs,,,So hooking up the GPS there is FINE,, AS LONG as you have a IN LINE fuse the right size for your GPS.... TO HOOK up to the BIGGER connector, just get a matching size connector, YOU will have to make you GPS wire Fatter by stripping off EXTRA insulation and fold it over a few times,,, Then Crimp or solder the connector to your wire,,,,,,,, Hope I didnt confuse you ::) Rich
