rear tire car tire??!!
My rear tire is flat across the bottom. It looks brand new and I will post the brand and size shortly. I only asked the owner how old it was, not what brand or where he bought it. I think it is a car tire! It is completely flat across the bottom. When on the kickstand it has a tiny contact point so I imagine it is the same when cornering. That is my concern! It is pretty wide but not inappropriately so and isn't TOO low profile either. Is it common to run a car tire back there? Do ya'll think it's dangerous? What brand/size would you recommend? I don't want to replace a brand new tire unless it's dangerous. So far I can only feel an effect when turning very slowly through a valley(like an upside down speed bump).

Quite a few riders use a car tire on the rear of the bike. If you go on Youtube and type in darkside tires you will see several videos on the subject.

A car tire on the rear of a motorcycle, commonly known as Darkside (DS), is a matter of personal preference. Some on this forum, me included, run a DS on our Nomads. The handling is a little different and there is a little learning curve, but it is safe and can be done. Some members here are proponents while others are adamantly opposed to using a DS...your mileage may vary.
The brand and size are limited to availability and tread width and aspect ratio depending on the model of bike you have (1500 or 1600). If you do some research on the forum for Darkside tire, you will find a wealth of information. Another site is over on Delphi forums, called Riding the Dark Side http://forums.delphiforums.com/DarkSiding. The DS forum on Delphi is devoted to the topic of car tires (Dark Side) on all brands of motorcycles. Hope this helps.

You missed the 8 page car tire discussion by about a week. Here's a link to it.
