It makes that sound probably because it is vacuum operated.

I know this will sound stupid, but what are the 2 things that the blue arrow is pointing at> They have the wires attached to the bottom & the black rubber hoses attached at the top.

Idle Air Control solenoids. They help the engine idle when it's cold.

The yellow arrow port is not making any sounds at all. If you reached around it and pulled the line off you would find the other end is plugged from the factory and it is a drain for only God knows what.

The items with the blue arrow click sort of at random and is maybe what you hear. These are Idle Solenoid Controls (ISC's).

You may leave them clicking..... You may remove them completely and tape up the wires well and zip tie them to the backing plate, and cap off the steel tubing that's leaf AIR TIGHT.

Or you can pull 1 wire off each and that will end the clicking too. Tape the wires too.

The real oil breather is behind the blue arrow and it is a large diameter port and tubing. That tubing goes up over the ft cly and forwards and then down on to the left ft side of the engine.

Ok so now I have no idea WHAT somebody did. Find and follow that rubber tubing and tell me where it goes now!

When the bike was STOCK that tubing went to the other side of the bike and was plugged up with a factory black plastic plug, so I can't see what sound would be coming from a oil, water and varnish drain tube........

I suppose somebody found it plugged and decided to remove the factory plug and install it to only God Knows what to 'Fix' something.

The oem tubing was a black color with apx 8mm aka 5/16th" OD and was maybe all of 9 inches long.

This is of course by memory from June 06, but I still have the stock parts i took off in storage.

I need to know where that tubing goes now.

Mac, I just went out and checked on this hose on my 2006. Mine is still entirely stock as far as the intake is concerned. That hose goes straight between the jugs towards the dog bowl on the left side. It stops a couple of inches before it reaches the dog bowl. It has a plug in the end. I searched the service manual for it and I finally found it on page 3-5 item # 12. It's called "Air Cleaner Drain Hose." Beats me what good it is. You would have to take off the left side dog bowl and the backing plate to even get to it to remove the plug. It would be a thousand times easier to just take off the dog bowl on the right hand side and clean out any liquid in there with a rag.

If anyone is getting pulses of air out of that hose when the engine is running then who knows what has been done? According to the book, it's just a dead end.

Yup I know that. I still have the stock backing plate, but that hose is in a box. I have a plastic cap on the fitting where the hose used to be.

I don't see any fluids staying in my exposed air filter for very long in the first place. I think someone was having a pipe dream when they installed a drain.

At best a little oil sludge and water maybe, a tan mung and goo from too many short rides (who does that anyway?) might end up there to be drained, BUT IF there us the whole backing plate would need a serious scrubbing in the first place.

So yeah if this fitting is making a noise it has gotta be some brain has hooked the hose up to something. A vac leak maybe????

Who knows... There is no way i can guess. It should be dead ended and that's IT.

Wait a sec i think there are 2 holes in that area. One is the drain and the other is the engine breather, which had better be huffing in and out. i think the ID for that one is about 14 mm - 9/16's

Yes sir, you got it Mac. There are two hoses there. The yellow arrow in the photo above is pointing at the larger of the two and that is the crankcase breather hose. The drain hose is much smaller and is to the left of the breather opening in the photo.
