air/fuel set-up for my 1500 nomad fi

i own a 2004 nomad 1500 fi. i have on it cobra speedster long pipes, a thunder mfg. aftermarket intake, and a bully fuel proccesser. the fuel pro. is as set up from g-man industries as per stage 3 (pipes and intake). the ics are removed, the tubes which the ics connected to capped, and the reed valves are blocked. my spark plugs continuously foul up (soot). i am running autolite iridium plugs (same heat as factory plugs (ngkdpr6ea/9), no matter - they all foul up. a mechanic told me that by capping the pipes after the ics the engine cannot breathe and due to lack of air the fouling occurs. do i need to run a hotter spark plug? what about engine damage due to the increased heat. this problem has been ongoing for a while with much money and time wasted - please help

Changing the intake and pipes is a stage 1 in the v-twin world. Stage 2 is cams, stage 3 is a big bore kit.

See how it runs first with the fuel processor off, if the plugs have a better color you will know the mapping was wrong. You will probably have to install new plugs to check the color as once they are all sooted up it will be hard to get a true reading.

also ringadingh - if you have an aftermarket air intake, did you remove the ics, cap off the tubes and marble/remove the reed valves? thanks for your help

Yes, you cap off the tubes, but more so for the aftermarket exaust to eliminate popping on decel.

what type of spark plug are you running? i ask because in my case running the factory ngkdpr6ea/9 they foul up after a few runs. a mechanic told me that capping the ics tubes suffocates the motor in which air is required especially during cold startup, but as per installation instructions for the new intake the capping of the ics tubes and the reed valves is necessary. i am assuming that you are running an aftermarket intake as well? what type of fuel proccessor are you using? mine is a plug and play - as well i could make adjustments on the fly.
