Hello all

Hello Dan and welcome. I would discount the counter balancer. Lots of Nomad have a knocking sound. Some have it brand new. I would wonder if your cam chain tensioners have worn out and you banging around inside the head.

Caddamm! who's longer wind than me will probably stick his head in hear. I might be able to find his post on this.

Hello all

I don't recall who posted about those dampers.

You can look up all the part numbers on bikebandit.com or Ron Ayer's page as well. You'll need a manual to see what gaskets & seals need replacing though. At the very least you'll need the stator cover gasket.

Hello all

I think the damper post is on VROC forums, sounds like a straightforward repair

Hello all

Well, don't expect the engine to ever be quiet. They are just noisy beasts with lots of chains and tappets in the engine whizzing away. It may have shaft drive, but a Nomad's got like 5 chains inside the engine. (Maybe only 4. I forget.) Anyhow it sounds crude at idle, but to me it sounds lovely at about 4000~5000 RPM.

Hello all

Welcome Dan to the forum from NW Georgia. The Nomads do have a noisey engine, mine sounds like a "bucket of bolts" rattling around, and has sounded like that from day 1.

Hello all

The noise my makes (at 11,000 miles) sounds like a washboard band tuning up for a country fair concert. SWEEET -Rich
