Vaquero with Black Exhaust
This is what Vance and Hines needed to offer from the factory!
I finally finished getting my Vaqueros exhaust blacked out. It is a high temp powder, and looks awesome in person. Here is picture of my work in progress. You can see I still have some chrome parts to get rid of and black out. I also have new hidden signals to install all around which will really clean things up! Here is a picture of the blacked out Vance and Hines Pro-Pipe... Remember, work in progress!!! ![]() Login or Register to Remove Ads |

ALRIGHT ! Very nice. I have honestly been thinking about the exact same on my Vaquero. I also have the V&H Propipe. I was thinking black powdercoating. Questions questions... Is your powdercoat, or paint? If powedcoat, price?? If paint, what kind, what type of prep involved? Please share, yours looks great.

I used a high temp powdercoat. I had the crash bars, handlebar, saddlebag crash bar, control levers, and a small custom piece powdercoated. The exhaust was powdercoated with a high temp powder. It was all sandblasted prior to coating. I spent $200 cash for ALL of it combined!
The rear and front signals are being replaced by some "hidden" pieces I am working on, also in matte black, the chrome cylinder head covers will be black, and the chrome on the rear light, bag handles, and bag hinges, and the headlight surround, will all be black.... Oh and the gas car, ignition, and gauge surround! A lot of those are being done with matte black vinyl! Cheap and long lasting! |

Let me know how the power coat holds up on the exhaust, and crash bars. Just wondering how easy it would be to scratch off. Now I have to try find a place near me that will power coat.

ZZ that looks amazing! I just talked to powder coat guy yesterday about doing my crash bars. It is pretty inexpensive. He recommended a local blaster because you need to just take the shine off, don't go all the way through the chrome, so it adheres better.
I got the windshield piece powder coated black and it was only $10. At that price I could do it each year. Again, congrats on a kick ass bike!

Nice job blacking it out. If the powdercoat doesnt last on the pies, you can always wrap them.

Very very nice! Glad to see people changing these bikes despite the little that is actually available for aftermarket parts. I love the looks of blacked out bikes. Slowly working on mine as well.

Lots of my boating buddies are doing black ceramic coating on their headers. It won't come off but from what I've seen even that will frost (turn to a matt finish) for about the first 6" off the cylinder head after running them for a while. They still look good. I just dulls the shine some. Then again they're running multiple pipes close together on a V8. You can see the frosted area in this picture. I'll be curious to see how they hold up on a bike.

Nice
I like the black pipe look so I went with Black Freedom Performance Duals.
I also put 2 1/2 inch round LEDs in my bags and put LED running lights and turn signals in the louvers. My next mod is 13 inch mini apes that I purchased from Don Myers. Seems like always a work in progress. Keep going Thanks Roger Sweat |
