What was your first motorcycle?

When I was 13 or 14 (1978-1979) I bought myself a used 1974 Honda XL 250.

In high school I bought a 1979 Yamaha 650 special, next came a 1984 Honda V-65 Magna. Then a Honda CR 500 dirt bike, then my first (99) Nomad.

Just curious how the rest of you got to your Nomad.

1999 Vulcan 800B bought in 1999. Put 40K miles on it then got the '05 Nomad. You could say that I'm Vulcanized.

What was your first motorcycle?

My first motorcycle was a Suzuki X-6 Hustler that I got in 1969. It was a 250 cc two cycle street bike with a 6 speed transmission. The bike I had before my Nomad was a Honda Spirit 1100. I traded it in on a 2007 Nomad in January this year and have a little over 15,000 miles on it.

I remember riding Kawasaki triple 2 stroke street bikes. Boy bikes have come a long way since then.

I agree. I post links like that often - its my way of responding so I don't have to retype again. Saves other people time too. I highly encourage other people to respond to THIS fresh thread.

Mine was a 1960 125cc Lambretta scooter,It really taught me how to ride, then a 125cc Jawa CZ dirtbike, then a 1966 250cc Yamaha twin, then I cant really remember that well but I had a couple more until the late 70's and early 80's where I had a78, 79,and 81 GS750 Suzuki then a 82 GS1100 and also about five GT380's and GT550's somewhere in between this with a 450 Honda thrown in. This season was my second one on my Nomad,

I had Honda 250's and 350's. I forget what years. Then I got a 750 Honda Nighthawk. Rode from Sumter, SC to Panama Beach, FL on that bike.

A "Tote-Goat" when I was about 11. Anyone remember those? Then a few years later a 1973 Yamaha 175 Enduro. After that I had a 1976 Honda Goldwing with sidecar. Sold that to raise kids and went bikeless for about 15 years up until I got my 99 Nomad.

I remember the old Tote-Goat! I forgot my family used to have one and I used it to run all over the mountains near Montgomery Creek, CA. Centrifigal clutch!

Have you seen the value on those old things now?

What was your first motorcycle?

I had a 8hp Tote Gote in jr high school. First real bike was a Honda CR250 Elsinore. I used to play "ditch the sheriff" all the time riding it in the foothills. Bike #2 was a 1974 Honda CB125S, #3 was an AMF Sportster 1970 or '71 that I bought off a guy shipping out overseas for $500 when I was in the service. #4 was a 2005 Suzuki C50T I bought in March of this year, #5 is my Nomad.

Yeah the Tote Goat was not a real motorcycle, but I sure had alot of fun riding that thing all over the mounains. It would climb a tree I swear.
BnG, I've seen a couple of those on Ebay in recent years and was amazed by how much people were paying for them. Nostalgia I guess. My grandfather built a trailer for it to haul his kill out when deer/elk hunting. All my friends used to climb into that trailer to ride. Not too dangerous considering the blazing fast top speed! lol
