So I'm riding home from work yesterday and I can see in my morror this other bike in and out of traffic trying to either catch up to me or blow past me and show off.
So as I'm taking my time up the 3 lane busy highway we call US19 here, this guy finally catches up to me at a light and he's on a Harley Road King. He starts the conversation by asking me questions about the Nomad. The light turns green and on to the next intersection, he then tells me evertyime he takes the bike in for service he wished he bought a Nomad. So I had to ask... How often do you have it serviced? About once or twice a month. I told him to sell it and take the profits and pay cash for the Nomad and that will probably be the last time you need to go to the dealer for service.

I sold one Harley to buy the Nomad, and I still own one, both for over 5 years, and neither one ever saw a repair bill except for tires. They aren't as bad as some believe. I'm glad I own the Nomad, but I'm still happy that I own a Harley too.

I know several people myself who have no problems with thier Harleys and the love them. I didn't want to imply anything with this post, it just gave me a chuckle and thought I would share it.

I have a lot of friends who ride Harleys, for the most part, they are reliable bikes. Outside of a couple of weird occurrences, I wouldn't say they are any less dependable than ours.

My Brother has a Road King and he loves it. I have ridden it and I think it's a fine bike. However, I like the Nomad Better! My brother went with me to pick up the Nomad and when he saw it the first thing he said to me was "Great, you have another bike that will blow mine off the road." He wanted me to buy a Harley so he could keep up
![]() Seriously, they are much better bikes than they were years ago. My Brother has 40K + on his 03 Road King and it has been a great bike for him. John |

They have certainly improved their reliability issues over the years. A lot of my freinds have them and they are a good bike now. No matter how much we may make wisecracks about them they are well marketed, and availibility of parts is limitless. You can get any part you need for a HD even if it was made in the 1930's. Lets see how many metrics will have parts available in 75 years.

My dad's already having trouble with getting parts for his 1985 Wing that he kept when he got his 1997 Wing. That was one of the reasons he got the newer one as the 1985 is like it rolled off the showroom floor except for the massive amount of chrome he's added.

I've had several Harleys; can't say that I've had a lot of trouble with either the Harleys or the Nomad; I also sold a Harley to buy the Nomad. If I could, I'd have both, but right now, it's not in the budget !! Several friends have Harleys, with very little in the way of trouble; my opinion, is that most major problems are owner error, or incorrectly installing some aftermarket stuff.

Harley plus. Great chrome. Great paint. American made
negative. Purchase price, cost for dealer service.

It's quite a sled for the money Rich, and if you can get one at a discount that's a real bonus!

Yer right about getting used to the motor noise. For the first few rides I was a tad worried but luckily the forums have lots of threads on this to reassure a guy.

About the noise. My brother is in town and when he heard me fire up the Nomad, he asked if the valves were always that noisy. I said, "Yup. It's part of the nature of the beast." I love my ride!
