Kuryakyn stuff (junk)

Here goes my attempt at pissing everybody off. I don't like Kuryakyn stuff, period. I've had a lot of Kury stuff on my bikes. Iso hand grips, foot pegs, peg extenders and so on. They all looked beat after a year or two. The chrome on the Iso hand grips wore down to the copper plating layer, the foot pegs peeled the chrome off, and one literally fell off the bike while I was riding nearly hitting my son who was following me! The rear pegs that I installed on my Volusia would never stay in the up position forcing me to ride with with passenger pegs in the down possition. My buddy is having the same issue with the chrome wearing off the Iso hand grips, and he has issues with the condition of his hypercharger. For what they charge I feel that their product is sub-par. There, I said it.

I haven't bought any Kuryakyn stuff in about 6 years. But back then it was good stuff. Did they change their manufacturing plant? That seems to be a problem with a lot of products that use to be good.

I've noticed my iso grips don't feel as good as they used to but I thought it was just me. You probably won't piss a lot of people off because we tend to recognize poor or deteriorating quality in products. That's why so many people look around for high quality stuff.

nomadd ( in this case the name is ironic) LOL, how do you really feel? Just kidding. My bikes are stock except for some Kury floor boards I put on my Meanstreak last summer. So far they are holding up, but have not been used much either.

to play devils advocate, i'm very impressed with my kury foot pegs. I laid my bike down at 55mph last summer, and the pegs took the brunt of the fall. my left peg is scuffed, but at least its still in one piece. thats alot of weight on something,to not hav it bust apart. matter of fact, i put the same pegs on my new bike.

I haven't had my Kuryakyn Ergo Dually highway pegs on my Valkyrie quite long enough, but getting them mounted was a royal bitch. My bike is metric and I needed SAE tools to put them on. The pegs actually came with a multi-purpose mounting kit and I didn't realize I wouldn't need all the parts in it. The biggest problem I had was that where I had them positioned they blocked my tightening the mounting bolt. How stupid is that. Furthermore, I needed three hands to get them on. They do look nice however and after much trial and error in adjusting them they work well. I have heard that they originally were Harley only, but did tap into the metric bike market later on. Maybe they just don't give a crap about us metric bike junkies and we get their seconds.

I've had problems with some of their stuff on my Harleys and I'm shying away from using their stuff on my Nomad.

Absolutely, I have had major issues with Kuryakyn stuff. Chrome peeling off and pitting on lots of items. I emailed them with photos of the items asking for them to be replaced. I had partial success, some items were replaced and others I had to pay some towards. I told them that I do not believe they test the quality of plating and do not salt spay test, because if they did there would be no plating left in a very short time. They assurred me they did, but I still dont believe them. This sort of quality would never be accepted in the car industry. I have worked in the car accessory industry where parts are salt spray tested to simulate many years of exposure. Kuryakyn parts would never pass these sort of tests.

The Kury items on my bike are holding up pretty good so far, although they are all 5-6 years old now.i havn't purchased any new stuff lately, except the eagle on my front fender. I lost one of the amber eyes on it right after it was installed and a quick phone call to them had another one in the mail to me right away.

The stuff is made in China! The glass in my mirrors scratched in under a year - just today the rubbers fell off my brake cover! Just like everything else I guess - my Saturn's Driver seat belt plastic guide broke over the winter and they won't Warranty it! Car's only got 58000Km on it and I said it should be a safety issue but they just can out and said it's $208.00 for the belt and $9.00 each for the plastic retainers! Go figure?
