Bluing pipes

Hey BD; tell me about bluing pipes and how normal it is. After a nice long ride today, and after I put her into the garage and giving her a once over, I notice that my new Cobra's were bluing all ready at the head outlet point. I compared it to my stock exhaust that was still laying beside the bike on the garage floor and these as well were bluing. Now the heat shields hide all this, but I was just wondering if it was a condition of too lean an engine or normal. I see lots of bikes, particularly HD that have blue pipes half way down the length.
