Cheap Disc Lock

After seeing some of the ridiculous prices on disc locks I was at my local Wallyworld in the trailer section and saw a very familiar looking lock and upon inspection I saw that the lock was made for the end of the pin that goes through a trailer hitch.

I thought to myself, man...that locking pin diameter looks like it would fit through the holes in the front disc!!

It did perfectly. $5.19 plus tax!! Every little bit helps!!

When you use that make sure you put something on your handlebars or windshield or ignition switch so you don't forget it is there. ;)

Looks like a great value BD. I'm like everyone else and scared to death of driving off with that thing attached. I would have tape and straps and chains and signs everywhere to remind me about the lock.

Cheap Disc Lock

I have this mondo cable lock I use sometimes, but mostly I never have to park places where I worry about the bike. When I do use it, I lock the fork or bars to a pole. I do not like to lock anything to the wheels.

This goes back to an episode where I loaned someone my Honda and when they parked it they put my cable lock around the rear wheel and swingarm. They didn't mention it and I didn't notice when I got onto the bike.

I nailed that sucker, brought the front wheel 4 feet off the ground, crashed it back down and ripped three spokes outta the rear wheel. Took me a whole day to re-lace & true the wheel, but I was real lucky I didn't actually crash & burn, if ya know what I mean.

Since then I've been very sensative about locking things to the wheels.

You can bring a horse to water as they say................ I know someone whom never locks his forks because he took off on his bike with the forks locked and crashed. One man's inovation is another man's misery.

I decided to check out the locks at Wal-Mart. Found em. Bought one. They are $5.69 here. Now I need to get those straps, signs, warning tape and chains that I was talking about. Thanks BD.
