Clutch release

I do not know if my clutch is releasing right or not. When I release the clutch, all seems fine. 1-5 gears no problem when running at normal pace.

Now if I hit the throttle bit hard, say 3rd gear, as if transmission shifts down.Is this normal?

Also, how can I adjust the clutch release. It engages when almost at the end of total release. Can it engage at the middle of release? Hope I explained right.

Thanks.

Are you sure the clutch is not slipping when you hit the throttle hard ?
The rpms will rise but there is no increase in speed.

The clutch release it not adjustable as it is hydraulic and not operated by a cable.
What is the year and mileage of the bike ?

Transmission shifting down is not normal. My 07 will do something similar once in a while. It has done it maybe 5 times since new and I have 73,000 miles on it now. I just ignore it.

My clutch also engages way out at the end of the lever. As far as I know there is no way to change that.
You can adjust the lever closer or farther away but it will not change the friction point.

It sounds like your clutch spring may be needing to be replaced. You usually notice it on an uphill grade, the motor speeds up but the bike doesn't.

My clutch engages when the lever is almost all the way released. That seems to be normal for our bikes. If the bike downshifts it is possible you weren't fully engaged in the higher gear and it will jump back down. Always make sure you push the shifter completely down. Have had it happen when I shift to second and it will jump back into neutral. Got to be firm with the shifter.

Mine is 2000 Kawa Nomad FI with 18,000 miles on it. I read the replies and seems my issues are normal.

Good we were able to compare notes. Fantastic!!! Thanks a lot!

I see the problem already. You have a 12 year old bike with only 18k miles. You need to ride more.

Ive done that kind of mileage in a season before, and I can only ride about eight months a year on average.

And you don't have any clutch issues. Thanks for proving my point. :)
