Anyone fitted a radio on a Nomad, if so what did you fit and how happy are you with your choice? I think I need one

Now you have opened a whole can of worms. Lots of us have radios, many different kinds. Some with speakers on the handlebars or in a fairing and some with headsets in helmets.

I have a J&M CB radio which also has a 10 ch weather radio mounted on the handlebar and a headset in the helmet. I always wear a full face helmet so it works great. To that I have plumbed in an XM satellite radio that sits in a cradle between the risers. Clean setup. I can listen to ANYTHING I want with the touch of a button and with the headset the sound is awesome.

Bud do you have a fairing? You just have everything mounted on the handlebar?

Reckon I want speakers on bars/fairing, got an outer bat wing. Have a Scala Q2 and Zumo 550 GPS so want to keep the sounds separate.

Honestly, a Bluetooth communication set paired with a GPS and iPhone/smartphone is probably all you would ever need. Some of the comm sets have FM radio built in too, some of the GPS' have XM/Sirius too. The nice thing is it's wireless and you can take it anywhere on any bike and the sound is all yours that no one else has to hear. Now, if all you want is music, an iPod with a decent set of in ear canal buds work well too.

I used a Sony Xplod radio in the fairing, it has a front usb port so its easy to plug in a memory stick or Ipod. It worked pretty good overall.

I'll second that, and you can use a little $15 8GB flash drive full of MP3's plugged into the front of the stereo instead of taking your $200 iPod and a cable to attach it out for the ride. If you have a batwing fairing, it is the way to go. Use one of the tiny sized USB drives and therte is no problem with it bouncing or getting loose.

If you put a stereo in the fairing, be sure the windshield is sealed nicely in case of rain. I just installed a new Sony stereo last night to replace the one that quit working after riding through a deluge last weekend. I also ran closed cell foam on both sides of the windshield and fairing shells. The XM and the USB flash drive capabilities are nice while touring. The CD player is pretty hopeless unless you are on an extremely awesome smooth road.

I have the Reckless fairing and love it. A few weeks ago I installed a Sony stereo that an Ipod or any other mp3 or flash drive goes right inside the unit. Works great. Not too many buttons to fumble with. You control the Ipod from the face.

Had a kenwood marine that crapped out. Happy actually because the buttons were to small and hard to control.

I as well have a Reckless fairing, but I have the Fusion marine stereo in mine that takes an Ipod right inside. Love the look and the function of the buttons. Sound is fantastic now, though I am considering up grading the speakers to Polk db521 for a little more oomph........
