Installing a Gear Indicator

Got the GIPro gear indicator and wiring harness, planning to install it tomorrow.

First step is to install the wiring harness supplied with the indicator.

I plan to take lots of pics which I'll post when its all done

Have to find the speed sensor on my 1600 - where is it?

&

The pickup coil (crankshaft sensor) - where is it?

Look at the top of the Garage form and there is a link to the 1600 service Manuel. You can down load the whole Manuel or just sections. In the Electrical section, page 92 you will find the Speed Sensor. Page 49 is the Crankshaft Sensor.

Please keep us updated on this project, I've been looking at these myself.

Installing a Gear Indicator

I'd love to hear how it works and see pics. It would be nice to know what gear I'm in someway other than just going up till it stops.

Installing a Gear Indicator

A gear indicator is something I wish Kawasaki would have installed on the bike from the factory. Even my 72 GT380 had one on it way back then.

Installing a Gear Indicator

I can't wait to see who is the first one to come on here and say " Gear indicator, who needs that? I tell by the sound of the motor."
Some one always does.
