Grasshopper help

Just purchased the grasshopper backrest from a fellow member and I am having a hard time installing it on my 2004 Nomad. With the bracket installed the drivers seat is off from the seat mounting holes by nearly an inch. There is no way I can tighten down the seat.

Help?! ???

Thanks!

Dale

Dale,

Is the bracket on top of the seat mounting flange? All you should have to do is unbolt the drivers seat and put the mounting bracket on without moving the seat and then bolt back on. I have one but do not have that issue.

As waterman said, take the bolt out of the seat, put the grasshopper bracket on top of the seat bracket where you just removed the bolt and reinstall the bolt.
If you are still having problems, a picture would be helpful.

not trying to be smart, but did you buy a grasshopper for your model? The mounts are not universal across years and brands. Do you know the person you purchased from? Could be a problem (like it was messed up and wouldn't fit his bike) that he already had?

Buyer beware and all that you know!

Well I bought it from a member on this forum. In my WTB ad I listed my bike as a 2004 Nomad FI.

Let us hope that my cinicism is un-necessary! Maybe you can post a picture of the back pad w/bracket, the mount and your bike's seat area. The grasshopper is a very simple but functional driver back rest. You may have an aftermarket seat, or a wrong model backrest otherwise the thing should take a bout 5 minutes to install.

Bracket should look like this:

This is the bracket tucked in under the pillion.

That's not what my bracket looks like. Mine looks like this.
I have a modified Honda Aero seat on, that will look different.
But this is the correct bracket for a 2007 1600.

This is with the backrest inserted in the bracket.
