Please Help!!!

Just took my 2010 Nomad for a ride for the first time and this is what I got;
Backfiring due to what seems like unburnt fuel in the exhaust pipes.
Heat discoloring on the exhaust pipes mid way through to lenght of the pipes, and at the end as well. And finally, red hot fire coming from the exhaust port at the end of the pipes. Can anyone give me a hint as to whether this is a 'do not drive at all condition' so I can judge whether I can ride it to the shop!

Agreed!!! Don't ride at all!!! If you have so much fuel that raw flames are coming out the exhaust ta9il pipe then your cylinder walls are washed clean and your oil is fouled with fuel and you will destroy the motor!

You added all those accessories before you ever rode it?

Well, the pipes (not the shields) will discolor with heat, that's why they put chrome shields over them. However, it shouldn't be belching fire. Call your dealer.

Wow that is a bummer. I'm with loafer on this. Am I right in assuming it is a brand new bike that you never got a chance to drive when you picked up last fall? Even if it is not, it is still under warranty, so let them deal with it, not only the fix but also the discoloration of the pipes. My 1600 pipes are a bit discolored but all of that is in the first foot or so and hidden by the chrome heat shields, and certainly not the mufflers.

Please Help!!!

The bike had 600 kms. on it before I bought it. (Demo model) So I figured all of the bugs would have been detected by then. The dealer where I bought it thinks that the fuel mixture needs serious adjustment. How it got knocked out of whack is anyone's guess!!!

Sounds like the ECU or a sensor has gone haywire.

As everyone said, don't ride it. Have the dealer come get it. This could be caused by a number of problems starting with a failed sensor and all the way up to replacing or resetting the ECU.

Wasn't there a recall because of the ECU on this model? Sounds like the ECU is messed up big time.

Faulty plugs are the culprit. There was gas in the oil pan and the dealer mechanic narrowed it down to that. Apparently the ECU does not catch this issue when the plugs fail, and gas gets pumped into the cylinder regardless. They are sending me 4 new plugs and a chrome cleaner that will remove all of the discoloration. Hopefully that will be the end of it. Thanks for all the helpful replies in this stressfull time for me. (I'm so dramatic)
