I'm so cheap

Since I keep my cell phone in a saddle bag when I'm riding and I can't stand wearing a watch, I broke down and bought a motorcycle clock.

O.k. fine it's a Walmart wrist clock (too big to be a watch) with the little arms for the pins saw'd off and filed smooth so it doesn't look quite so much like a wrist clock. Yes, I know......it still looks like a watch, but it's better than it was. $9.00 and now I know when it's time to not go home.

It matches the speedometer and the font on the numbers is even pretty close (unbeknownst at the time of purchase). It's so honking huge I can see it at a glance.

How waterproof can a $9 Walmart wrist clock be?

Only time will tell. Get it? I'm guessing it's a good thing I live in a desert though.

Looks good, but I'm cheaper, I bought a motorcycle that came with a clock included. If you have any worries about it being water proof, just cover it with a baggie when it is wet out

I have a digital clock built into the speedo assemby, another in the stereo and another on the GPS, plus I usually have a wristwatch on me as well. Trying to make them all change at the same time can be a challenge sometimes. ;)

I prefer to call it "resourceful".

Did I read that right....you only have 7000miles on a 99?

Nice clock. Conventional wisdom is to keep your cell phone on your person just in case you get separated from your bike. Just a thought.

Yes. I bought the bike about a month and a half ago with 5,230 miles on it. I'm the third owner and apparently the first two never rode the thing. Had some issues with it due to sitting so long, but ironed all that out and loving the thing now. Couldn't be happier.

I'm neither conventional nor wise, but even I can see that idea has merit. Going to have to re-think that. I'd still need the clock anyway so the $9 not wasted I guess.

Why didn't I think of that.

That's funny. I hope you're not trying to make those adjustments on the fly..........

I can't believe the low mileage. Don't forget to check on the Plastic Oil Gear if you haven't already.

OK, I'll bite. How much chewing gum did it take to stick it there?

Steve, you might want to rethink having all those time pieces. Leaves you no wiggle room with the wife if you get home late.

It's on the agenda.

It's not velcro, but similar. Hard to describe it. I'll see if I can find a couple pieces to get a photo of.

The two pieces are adhesive backed and it's real sticky stuff. We use it on some of our equipment to keep speaker grids on and they're typically used outdoors so pretty resiliant. Once you put it together it's pretty tough to get it apart again. The stuff is called dual lock.

How waterproof can a $9 Walmart wrist clock be?

I have an $8 watch I bought 5 years ago or better and it went through a complete wash cycle and is still ticking. I had no idea it was in my laundry until I heard the clunking in the dryer. I figured it was a goner. I just put a new battery in it a couple of weeks ago.
