Frozen Allen Head - Help - Modfied

I am trying to remove the back rack from my nomad. There are 4 Allen head bolts holding it on. I have tried to remove those bolts but they will not budge. I am afraid to put anymore pressure on them for fear of stripping them.

Any suggestions?

Should I use anti-seize on them when I put them back?

Oh yeah, as I recall those babies are tight and probably have thread locker on them. I have a 3/8" drive set of metric allen sockets that I use. You might try turning them clockwise (tightening) just a tad, then try going counter clockwise. If you have a hand impact driver, not an air tool, but one you hold with one hand and hit the end with a hammer, that should bust it loose.

Shoot a bit of WD-40 into them? I did use a Craftsman ball-tip T-Handle allen wrench taking off my windshield and twisted it hard enough to snap the ball off the end of the wrench.

Torque spec on those bolts (off the top of my head) is probably 25 ft/lbs. Anti-seize won't hurt, just don't crank them down like a lug nut on Boeing 757 and you should be good.

Scott - txs and I am glad to see you up and working today. Hopefully not to much if any pain.

Thanks, Bill. Not working today, taking a couple of sick days to recuperate. It hurts to lie down, so I am sitting at the PC.
