Hill City was a nice stop for us last June on the trip back from Colorado. If you like those older motels where you can pull it up to the front door, check into Harney Peak Motel. It's biker friendly and right on the main drag so everything is a short walk. It's a little place with only about 7 rooms or so.

There are a number of places to stay in Custer....you'll find one....but you simply HAVE GOT to stop at the purple pie house on the main drag in downtown Custer. You can't miss it (it really is purple) and the treats in there are to die for!

Depends upon what you want to spend. I have stayed at the Black Hills Mile Hi Motel (small and cozy), Rocket Motel, and the Bavarian Inn. All three are good. Both the Mile Hi and Rocket are in town close to all of the places to eat.

Oh ya, second on what Net said, The Purple Pie Place.

Enjoyed my stay at the Bavarian Inn and the Purple Pie House. Plenty of good places to eat in Custer. Steaks are great.

Some of us came across a great deal on the Super 8 in Custer. Very nice. I vote for the Purple Pie place too. I looked it up sometime this past summer and it has changed owners but I bet it's just a great as it was when the big, bad bikers of KawaNOW rolled in their for some pie and ice cream.
