Green Light Triggers?

Most of the traffic lights in my area use an optical sensor or camera type device on the traffic light itself. It wouldn't do anything for that type of light.

If they use the magnetic sensors in the road in your area, it might be worth a try.

'The Green Light Trigger emits a wide and powerful magnetic field'

I've seen these things advertised and I could put one to good use around here.
But!
I'm a little nervous about the powerful magnetic field interacting with my bikes electronics.

Does anybody have any direct experience with them?

Save your money. Have one on the 1800 Gold Wing and it has never tripped a light. Never bothered to put one on the Nomad.

I have a lot of experience with magnets and their effect on electronics. I will NEVER put something on my bike that "emits a wide and powerful magnetic field".

Green Light Triggers?

That thing is basically and EARTH magnet. Rare earth magnet. Go to Harbour Frieght (Princess Auto in Canada) and put one on the bike if you think it will work, which I doubt it will for most areas now.

They don't work from what a few I've know who tried them!!! Junk...waste of your money, like buying a DEER WHISTLE!!!
Sorry for those who put them on thinking they'll protect you.

Myth Busters did a segment on them too, junk science!!!!

Besides if you live anywhere that gets SNOW, forget it, they use optical sensors now as most of the original ground (weight) sensors tend to fail with ice/snow on them!!!!

And the Guarantee? how do you get money back saying it does not work? It does state that you get stuck at LESS then if you don't use it? but what number less? How do you quantify that???? hmmm

Oh and I love the double talk too.
"The first and second most effective solutions on the market"
WTF?? Now it can be (what study?) the first, but how can it be the 2nd as well? If it's number 1 how can it also be #2?? Or is that it's a load of CRAP as well...
You buy it because it's suppose to be #1 only to find out it's a load of #2 ;)

Save the money you'd blow on the green light trigger and put nitrogen in your tires. ::)

I read on other forums in the past that they don't work.
Just like the deer whistles.

Better yet fill your tires with helium which will make your bike lighter which in turn will lead to less tire wear and better mileage Ok so maybe not...

Green Light Triggers?

Here lately in my area my Nomad has been tripping the lights for me. I have no problems in a while. I don't think I would even consider using one of the devices.

I have been stranded at a few lights over years. And I have put my side stand down and then smacked the pavement with it. That usually works. It helps when the bike and rider have a combined weight of over 900#'s.

In Tennessee, the law states, if you are on a bike and the light won't change and there are no cars stone to trip it, you can legally run the red light.

Its not legal here to do that, but thats exactly what I do. I work nights and many times the light won't change since Im the only one around. I check to make sure its clear and make my turn.

Green Light Triggers?

Every light around here that my bike would not trip, I would contact the city and they would send someone out to adjust the sensor. Works every time. All it takes is a phone call.

Glad this was posted. I found another left turn lane light that I need to call in. I forgot about it.

I don't have a magnet. I just pull the bike centered over one of the visible cracks in the turn lane and rarely have to wait.
