Snow in Alabama, Again (Now With Pictures)

Here at my house we had snow on Christmas Day. Only about 2 inches but north of me at Huntsville, Alabama they had 4 to 5 inches.

Tonight around 6 PM it started sleeting. Then around 7 PM it started snowing and is still snowing. I guess we have 3 to 4 inches at the house now. We could get up to 8 to 10 inches. Supposed to snow all night and most of the day tomorrow. The temps aren't going to get above freezing so what snow we get is going to stay a few days.

Here in the south we don't have much of anything in snow removal equipment. That means everything comes to a virtual standstill. I know for the people up north you get a lot more snow than us. But, 1 inch for us is like you getting 10 inches.

I took some pictures tonight and will get up and take more tomorrow and will try to post them so you can see what it looks like for Alabama and the south to have snow.

Gene

We got 8-10" yesterday and today on top of the already 2 feet of snow on the ground. Current air temp is -7 degrees. I don't think you have anything to complain about having snow for a couple of days. LOL.

When we get snow it hangs around for 4-5 months!

Sounds like it would be a good idea for the townships to buy some used plows from the north and have them on standby, or use road graders, they're good for clearing snow.

In China, everyone is expected to sweep the snow an ordered distance, in the town live in. Get the brooms out!

I know what you mean Gene. We got a couple inches of snow yesterday.
It melted when it hit the road then quickly froze.
Now we've got ice on the road covered by an inch of snow.
It's as slick as it gets. The road crews don't seem to be making much progress.
Everything here has pretty much come to a stop.
But I'm not that bright, so I drove the 35 miles to work.

Dave, I still have about 5 or 6 inches of snow covering the car. I guess I won't even attempt to go anywhere. When I was a teenager I would have been out and about. Not anymore though. I guess sometimes we do get smarter as we get older. It was a lot of fun though when I was young, wild and crazy.

I tried really hard to post pictures. Sent them to Photobucket but couldn't get them from Photobucket to the forum. Anyone out there got any advice on posting pictures from Photobucket to the forum. Either answer here with your explaination or PM me. I would appreciate the help.

It gets so slippery, that its easy to fall into.

You have my total sympathy! It matters not if it's an inch or ten; snow and ice shut down the motorcycle hobby. We are buried here with no relief in sight..at least for 3 or 4 months. . Snow stinks! :'(

I know the feeling about the snow. We usually don't get any, at least not much more than a dusting. And then we have 2 inches on Christmas Day and now we have 6 plus inches. I made my first venture out today. Had to shovel the drive so I would slide off in the ditch. Had no real problems as the roads weren't too bad today.
